Use the MyRadar app. Turn on the wind layer. Forget-25 to I-90, there's heavy snow AND a hard broadside wind through Wyoming.
Best bet is west on I-70, then north on US-191 and US-6 to catch I-15 in Provo. I ran that way when I-80 was shut down with that big pile up a few years ago. Besides which the wind dies off quickly after you crest the Rockies (as shown on MyRadar) on I-70. The wind is howling all the way to Utah on I-80, and it's a head wind.
Normally I would avoid the big pulls over I-70. But running light it's the best route right now.
High winds - I-80 vs I-70?

Tool for you... multiple layers, can zoom, etc. Windy as forecasted
-
My radar is pretty awesome. Winds died down by Glenwood spring just as predicted, and now it's bright and sunny here at the utah border. Meanwhile up in wyo it's blowing so hard that the wind is turning blue on myradar.

Maybe consider going I25 N through WY, MT, ID and into WA
-
Sounds like you took I70, which was the smart choice.
Had a pretty big winter event yesterday here in MT, it's over now.
If you've made it to Utah Line, I'd say your good to go.x1Heavy, Lepton1 and PermanentTourist Thank this. -
From there I assume you will run north on I-15 then west on I-84? Then the only real choice after that is to run the Gorge to Portland then north to Seattle on I-5 or take I-82 to I-90, going over Snoqualmie Pass.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Gonna take that hilly shortcut from Green River to SLC area, and then the usual 84 to 82 to the mass pike. (I grew up in Boston, so I will always call 90 mass pike no matter where I encounter it)
-
Yep, that's the US-191 from Green River. Good choice. Snoqualmie on I-90 should be clear sailing, BUT double check weather when you approach the exit to I-82. Currently it looks good.x1Heavy Thanks this.

What? no cabbage?
As far as the big pass on 90 up there, be careful and wary of what DOT has to say about that in real time online. It can go bad in a hurry.
It would be something if all truckers somehow peer to peer this radar wind stuff. If say 200,000 trucks decided to bypass WY yesterday and go through 70 with you...Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Cabbage is pretty much a given on his route. Alternatives are much worse. Current conditions look good for Cabbage and Snoqualmie, which is the shortest route.
x1Heavy Thanks this.
