I'm sorry I'm not a trucker but I've never understood why drivers feel like a hundred million dollar company's business plan was to screw drivers to make money. I'm sorry but it's laughable that a company as big as knight would screw people as a way to make money.

The reason he hasnt foudn another trucking job otr is because they all are ky users, if you are brand new then in a few months you too will be complaining, they get you in there and for the first few months its ok, then the next few months its ###### and only goes to show you that they dont give a #### about there drivers at all,if you have a family at home and are supporting them you too will go broke and prolly be eating crackers just to be bale to keep going.Knight is a big joke and I will down them til I die cause they have done us so wrong in the past.YA kno I was thinking the other day and truck drivers right now are like illegal mexicains,THEY ARE BEGGING FOR FREIGHT THEY ARE LOW PAID, EXSPECTED TO EAT OFF NOTHING WHICH THEY ARE GETTING PAID AND THERE ENPLOYEES DONT GIVE A #### ABOUT THEM ONLY WHAT THEY DO........this was not meant to affend any trucker cause to me they are worth alot more than they get paid for...but goodluck with Knight..

I am so glad that you think its funny that truckers are treated this way.I bet they treat there dogs better than they do truckers.Come on man imagine this, you sleep in your truck every night, lonely as hell, all messed up sleeping schedule, you have to eat what you brought with you ( which is mostly sandwich stuff or soups) or eat at some fast food place where you r truck will fit thro, you freeze your ### offf during the winter, and burn up in the summer, They dont even pay you when you are sitting ( layover pay)til you get a load so you better always keep some money on you or you will starve..If I were you I wouldnt be laughin at truckers or what they make cause if they stop the whole world stops, they bring you all your food, everything you use everyday they bring it to you, without them you are #### out of luck. And as a trucker wife I dont believe truckers are paid what they are worth, but they have to do a job like anyone else.THey only want a DECENT pay, can you blame them for wanting that? live your live as a trucker for one week and see what it is like,Better hope that TRUCKERS DONT GO ON A STRIKE CAUSE YOU TOO MAY KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO STARVE LIKE US...........

I agree it is not the intent of any company to starve their workforce. They exist to make money which is done by utilizing their work force. The problems arise when idiots (some dispatchers) take the reins and try to drive. BUT a driver that addresses this issue is known as a whiner. I am hanging on for one more month and we will see if my whiney little issues are dealt with. The economy sucks bad and I DO have an escape plan, unlike others that are trapped and have no other choices. I have never been happier that I never leased a truck. All I have to do is grab my atlas and cooler and park it.

Squishybear I am very happy to hear about your success at Prime. I know there are a lot of drivers at Prime that do very well. But there are many that are not as rosy AND they being under a lease, cannot just walk away within a 1 hour period. Those would be the ones that had no business there in the first place that listened to people like Walcrawler make it sound like with a "lil hard work you too can be a millionaire"

At $.21 (not 20) plus $.11 per diem (untaxed) your husband could not possibly be working hard. Why? because that would only be 1250 miles a week. Which is easily done in 2 days by even a average driver.

I know knight drivers who currently work for Knight and none of them have trouble getting freight. And in most cases they tell me they turn freight down to do restarts so they won't get stuck somewhere out of hours away from their home.

In most cases when a driver gets those kind of miles, it is because the company wants them to leave (starve out). Because they are a pain in the butt to deal with.

I just gave a driver for Knight a ride home today and she made $2,534 last month take home and she only works 5 days on and 2 days off.

Glad you husband found somewhere he is happy. But your husbands inability to work the system at Knight does not make them bad. It just means your husband needs to pay attention better in orientation, read the employee manual , and develop a good working relationship with his dispatcher and payroll. Being a truck driver is more then just turning a steering wheel, especially with the current economic climate.

I heard this straight from 2 the higher ups mouths at the same terminal at different times......." we are a $800,000 million dollar debt free company if you have a problem here there are plenty more right behind you every week begging for a job. We can get rid of you and stick another driver in your spot just like you so if you dont want to do things our way cya lat'r.".......Now that may not be the exact words but it was something like that. The security guard also had an attitude. They also routed a driver in that idled his truck all night..... This company seems to look for more ways to fire you than to appriciate all the ch!t ya put up with. I may be totally wrong and I hope I am but that was the message I recieved.....If and when the economy picks up these kind of companies will have the 5 thousand dollar sign on bonus but right now they get to choose and pick who they want. At .34 cents per mile you're really not out much if you get left out.

Got lotz of experience. I just picked a fill in company with no forced dispatch since being laid off from a $70k+ a year company with 3 day weekends. I also wanted to see if things were still the same as they were back in 89 & 90 when I worked for a truckload company.........Yep still the same. I did think the pay was > 45 cent though. I guess it's the length of the trip. The bene's suck also. But it's not permanent for me. Not too many folks hiring until next year sometime. .....This is the pay scale. I think.....0-300 miles .46 + .11 per diem 301-500 .40 + .11 and .34 or .36 + .11 anything over 500. I think that's what it is. The .11 cents just make it look like your making more. I think the per diem you can claim is $57 a day. You really have to do some trucking to make the .11 cents work in your favor. I do like the big ol truck, the jakes and the big ol motor though. ....I still rather drive my old day cab with the 370 hp for almost twice the pay. Cya'all out on the road somewhere. Merry Christmas.
