Driver facing cameras are #1 on my list of "how to make me leave"

 

Only large fleets do this crap.
Insurance dick heads!
Find a small company that doesn't need to lower their insurance,because they hire good drivers..to begin with.

 

Once again, driver facing cameras are an invasion of privacy if you are "living" in the truck. Sure companies have a right to do it if its their truck..they can suffer the consequences of having a hard time getting drivers with these cameras, it's why Swift dropped their driver facing cams. There is no need in having them inward facing..outward facing tells them all they need to know about why an accident happened.

 

For many years, truck drivers, especially OTR truck drivers, often took an OTR for 2 reasons, SOLITUDE & PRIVACY. The OTR truck driver LITERALLY did NOT have a boss or supervisor looking over his or her shoulder.
The driver facing camera has LITERALLY stripped the OTR truck driver of his or her SOLITUDE & PRIVACY.

Its a true Invasion of Privacy."Look at Driver #698,he Looks Tired,now hes diggin his Nose,ha,ha,go get Brenda in Human Resources...She just Has to See this!"The other problem is when a driver gets killed in a wreck.Safety Dept Has to watch all the Gore of your Final few seconds of life.Just seems immoral.

 

My company has about 600 trucks and about 4 or 5 owner operators including me.they never ask any questions I can 95 mph all day if I felt like it no Qualcomm and still running a trip report sheet don't even have a log book much less ELDS but I'm running within 100 miles of the plant every day and never cross a scale.driver facing cameras huhuhuhu. Don't know how y'all deal with it.there is still a little bit of freedom left out there but you have to get out and look for it.but as long as you belong to them you won't have time to look for anything better. I think that's what they count on. Keeping people so wrapped up in bs until they don't have a chance to even look for anything better. Meanwhile I'll keep pulling these tankers 70 miles down the rd to new Orleans for 600.00 a lick.I can do it twice a day even if I have a flat on the spillway on every trip. Then pull another one to the plant by my house on the way home and get paid for driving home too.bring them an empty for tomorrow and hook up to the full one I brought yesterday go home and get up tomorrow and bring it to the other plant I have to pick up from anyway and get paid for driving to work and repeat. All within 100 miles of the house. Never stop looking for something better. I still am.been looking since I started hear 15 years ago just haven't found anything better. But if I do I'll be all over. Never ever settle for anything less than the best for you and your family cuz that's what its all about anyway. Not what's best for them but what's best for you. A lot of people are afraid of change or risk.usually the higher the risk the higher the reward. He who risk it gets the biscuit. He who don't gets the crumbs left behind by the one who did I guess. If their lucky.
