Do you have access to a load board?
Right now I see NC 1422 miles $3,800, to NJ $6,200. Didn’t call so could be multi drops.

I don't drive for that guy anymore.
I'm with a new outfit.. -
Rates can change week to week, sometimes even in a day. Brokers can sniff it based on the # of trucks posted and # of loads. I don’t believe there is a bigger conspiracy
-
I’m not here to convince anyone of anything nor am I new to this.

On the West Coast it sure seems like a conspiracy. All of a sudden the boards are full of #### loads for $1.30/mile and when you call in they refuse to negotiate. Still managed to gross $2.14 for all miles (including deadhead) in February.Tall Mike Thanks this.

February is tough but rates are still higher than last year. I remember going to South TX last March and I was happy to get around $1.80 on all miles. So I expect rates to be higher this summer. My advice is get enough rest, and make sure your equipment is in top shape.
Brokers know another sucker will call and take $1.30 to Chicago and hope to get 2.50 on the way back. They can conspire all they want but when produce starts they’ll pay you anythingKB3MMX and Silver Bear Thank this. -

Same here, ran Texas about a month recently and pulled out because rates got stupid low.
Nobody hauls cheap freight on my expensive equipment. Let the idiots at Swift Refrigerated handle their loads they cry about for being sensitive. See how well that works out getting on time or not damaged. Pffffff lol.Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Don't take it !!
They will go up if it sits!!Tall Mike Thanks this.
