As often as they want.

As often as they can afford to. Those that take as much home time as they want tend to go broke.

Strange question. An owner operator in the truest sense of the word owns a business. So days at home unless under a load means the doors are closed. How often one can be home depends on so many things. What kind of freight, where you live, do you count home for a night or 2 under a load, how much debt does one have and how fast they want to get out of debt.

Is the money there by you being home daily

I average 10 days off a month and still make a good living. That being said, my previous questions still apply.

It is for me, as I run a dedicated route from Phoenix to the LA area for my customers. I compete with only 1 other company that does this-and their communication skills are lacking. I've picked up a couple of their customers, one just last week.

My truck repairs/downtime determine my off time.....period. A truck will give you plenty of time off....at LEAST 2 weeks per year probably more like 5! You just don't really get to pick when!
