Depending on the manufacturer, the zerk fittings are for the pivot bushings and the locking jaws. And I was taught to pump grease until you see clean grease.

I'm going to have to check I was pumping and didn't see it coming out of anywhere that's why I asked. I've had a company truck where the grease ended up freezing around the locking Jaws and they had to take a torch and melt it away.Home_on_wheels and horsecrazychic22 Thank this.

My 5th wheel has no grease zerks, manual says to use spray lithium grease on the pivot points of lock jaws. I got a Simplex (now Holland).
I replaced it last year and have been careful to keep all the excess grease out the lock jaws area.horsecrazychic22, mtoo, HalpinUout and 1 other person Thank this. -
Us old guy's get confused when we don't see a grease zerk. It's like-- I know it's here somewhere LOL.Home_on_wheels, horsecrazychic22, thaistick and 3 others Thank this.

When I had the company truck, I didn't do any maintenance on it so the excess grease that froze was nothing I did. I'm glad I rarely drop my trailer, the release handle is on the passenger side.Last edited: Mar 12, 2018

It's like-- I'm an owner operator with my own trailer, hardly ever drop it. How often do you grease the landing gears?
I always put a few shots in every time I greased the truck.Home_on_wheels, Highway Sailor and HalpinUout Thank this. -
That is part of my greasing routine. I don't miss the days of picking up a neglected company trailer and having my nuts be on the ground from trying to raise up a landing gear that more than likely has never seen any grease LOL. Rail yard chassis are the worst.Last edited: Mar 12, 2018

I understand Mercer uses the Qualcomm MCP-50. Correct? What is the hugely discounted price for initial purchase and set up and the daily cost of the nanny service?
In addition to HOS and Navigation, are any other functions active/enabled? I'm specifically interested in the Performance Monitoring and Vehicle Diagnostics functions. Also, on the Navigation, can DriveWyse be disabled?
And last, does Mercer put a limit on HOS, line 5, off-duty driving?
Thanks,
Frankhorsecrazychic22 Thanks this. -
We use the ivg model. Its about 550 and 45 a month. Nav and drivewyze are the only things included. Far as i know drivewyze cant be turned off.
Off duty driving is limited to a 50 mile radius but no limit on number of miles driven within that radius.Last edited: Mar 12, 2018
A21CAV Thanks this. -
Mine was $750 installed through Mercer back in June. Its $45.00 monthly fee. I just clicked on Diagnostics and it asked for a password so I'm not sure if your able to set that up or not? Other than that the only other function besides drivewyze that's clickable is "Driver Training" which I've never even looked at.
I believe @MicksRule bought Pre-Pass and had his drivewyze disabled, I could be wrong? Don't think you can run both can you? Gotta be one or the other from what I understand.
I can't answer your last question about line 5... IDK?A21CAV Thanks this.
