Just a warning, for the guys that leave the Baltimore TA,going to Dundalk Marine Terminal.A easy shortcut has always been to turn right coming out of the truckstop, and go up the hill and turn right to Broening Hwy. Or reverse, coming back to the TA. This road has been posted,no thru trucks forever, but enforcement has been lax. On the local news here tonight, they now have truck enforcement cameras in place which will take you picture. Fines start at $240.
    Just a little warning.

Funny you should bring this up. About three weeks ago I watched an oversize go up Broening from Holabird Ave. When I tried to tell him about it his spotter gave me a hard time on the radio over it. I saw ATS doing it too. Guess they'll find out soon enough!

Yeah,on the news tonight they showed OS loads, car haulers, marine containers, everyone using that old route. A woman they interviewed says she counts 50 trucks a day going that way,who knows. I've been guilty of using it a few times a looooong time ago. Years ago the rumor was a friend of old Mayor Schaeffer lived on that road, and he banned trucks as a favor.Probably not true, but it is a nice shortcut, lol.

I see it several times a day myself. Seeing oversized loads being pulled up that road really disappoints me. There was time when that was considered specialized and only the cream of the crop did it. Certainly a bunch of boneheads doing it now. Just brings us all down.

Since I didn't call you out by name and obviously not since you have a permit. Are you insinuating this is the route given to all oversize coming/going to Dundalk Marine Terminal?

Well you made the assumption that all the oversize loads you saw on that route were in the wrong.
I have been routed in a bunch of different ways.
I get this route probably 40% of the time.fwiw

Oh -you forgot to mention - there's a little waste of oxygen waiting for you at the gate. If, you - like I did, foolishly attempted to expedite the gate process by throwing off your seatbelt as you approach the gate to access your wallet and therefore drivers liscence from your left hip - he'll pull you over and graciously offer you a warning , and I quote " I better not see a bunch of violations on your license, or I will write you a ticket" -

Never before have I wanted to assault a LEO. This was such a time.

I still have his "Maryland Transit Authority I Am a Waste Of Time Warning" with me. Douchebag.

I can see where you would get that from. Allow me to spell it out then. Not ALL oversize carriers are using that restricted road illegally but TOO MANY are. I see empty oversize flagged and bannered trucks using it regularly. The permit certainly no longer applies obviously. He continued to run it anyway. The one that had an escort most likely had a permit. There was a time when I would just give them the benefit of the doubt but those days are long gone for me. I'm sure you were routed that way due to the bridge/trussell on Broening Hwy when you cross over Holabird.

Most of those Transit cops are flunked out State Troopers. It's the position they're offered when they don't make the cut for the Troopers and/or they're waiting for an opening to become available.
