Old school hooded KWs and new fleet KWs are two different animals. If you're going to buy a new OTR truck, Freightliner Cascadia and 505 hp Detroit is probably the best way to spend your dollars. IMHO

Right Or the fleets could start hiring better drivers and give them a truck they'll love driving, you notice TMC actually has pretty decent looking trucks for what they are.

I've got an 05 Columbia that recently hit 1.5 million. That and I've got a hard driving money hungry driver in it since Oct. Truck is ungoverned. I have no doubt in my mind that he's been running the piss out of that truck. Yet other than PM's and service, it has not bee in the shop since July 2017 and that was for an air dryer.

I've got a 98 W9 and I've got almost as much in it before I even had it ready for the road than I have in the Columbia since I first bought it. So say what you want about those Freightliners. They are some money making trucks.

Other than the part about asking drivers about it, I could have written this post word for word. I came across one of the jake braking bake light truck the other day, and I indeed did think the driver was scared to go down the grade as the brake lights were going off and on...A LOT.

I was aslo about ot pick up the CB mic and question him/her, but then just decided to pass the truck and be on my way.

Set the auto start. I you don't open a door afterwards
    The horn won't sound.
If you open the door for one second then the horn
    Will blast off.

If you get out, then get back in the truck then reset
The auto start so the horn doesn't go off.

The one I have will only auto start when the voltage
Gets low when using the battery operated air conditioner.
It'll start the truck, charge the battery then shut off,
    Like it's supposed too.

It won't do anything but drain the battery and sound
A alarm when using the bunk heater.
I have no idea why they would do it like this.

The brake lights come on anytime the jake is
On and you let off the throttle.
Looks like you're riding the brakes all the way
    Down a mountain pass.

I've always though brake lights with jakes would be a good idea.

I had no idea they were finally out. And now that they are. Really annoying. I thought it was trucks trying to keep their speed down so their offices don't chew them out for speed on the eld.

There's a hill i climb at the end of my route. Cops don't patrol it. On the other side i let er fly. Along with everyone else. Now I"m seeing brake lights.

I forgot about that, again this was not a real engineering issue, I heard from those at GM that the management wanted a do all engine platform to fight the Japanese and German and they came up with the engine you mention, but it wasn't really a caddy engine but a oldsmobile engine.

Exactly my point why you guys think pretty much 90% of company's are running freightliners??? It's simple they save mad money on reliability and maintenance. Just use google
