I always just thought about a 34 as being a day off. Then after take a 10 hour break and your good to go. Just make sure you log those potty breaks if you take the 34 in the truck.

WHAT is your trucking company main office time zone? eastern time? Central? Mountain? West?

Assuming if you are in little rock and you are off work as of 1421 yesterday, it's 1821 this post, so it's been 24 hours plus 4, 28 so far. You have another 6 to go. Your 34 hour reset is finished at 0021 tomorrow morning after midnight.

Don't even try the Split 34 Hour Break Provision then, you'd be totally lost.

I log all resets as off duty for that reason. I stayed in a hotel officer...

Anything other than driving, pretrip and load check, I log from the sleeper.

Then Chicago time is what you keep. Or more exactly your home terminal if there is one. (Usually Headquarters.)

FMCSR 395.8 (i). It reads in part "The driver's duty status record shall be prepared, maintained, and submitted using the time standard in effect at the driver's home terminal..." end qoute

Be careful saying that, they might ask you for supporting documents (hotel receipt).

Best practice is to log it like you do it to stay out of prison.
