If you knowingly let someone else drive on the logs logged in as you, you are an idiot. At the point you realized your co-driver was doing this you should have immediately notified safety. To continue to let this happen is ridiculous. Anything that happens while your co-driver is driving will be on you. You will never convince the DOT or a jury that this was not done with your consent. If you're a scared rookie that thinks you have no alternative,, you absolutely do. Consider this one of your first tests in becoming a professional driver.

On a side note. That's less driving you have to do but you still get paid I would let that crackhead lol.. and if dot searches log I'd play it off saying oh darn we forgot to switch drivers again sorry officer we will get it fixed asap

Allow me to explain. I took a hiatus from trucking, and upon my return had to go out with a trainer. I decided (because I'm stupid) to stage my return to trucking with a further return to Werner Enterprises. So I had to go out with a Werner trainer. Could not for the life of me get along with the first victim....errr...trainer, despite his being a nice guy and a good trainer (yes, they did exist in the way back times). So I got reassigned to a new trainer.
And when I say new, I mean this cat just got recanted out of the plastic! Florida native, six months driving OTR under his belt, and I was his third "student".
Well, everybody knows how Werner works. Trainer trucks are just cheap teams for them. And my trainer's last student could provide a whole new definition for the term incompetence. Dude was flat out exhausted when I got on the truck! And we, of course, had a team load. Long jump, and barely enough time,to pull it off without a service failure.
So I'm rolling along, knocking down both miles and my hours. My shift is about to end, and I whack the curtain to wake my trainer. Nothing. I pull over and call him. Nothing. I open the curtain and check. He ain't dead, but he might as well be. Completely gone, almost comatose.
So I double check to make sure he's still breathing, grab his log in and password out of his book, swap drivers in the computer, and keep right on trucking. Full twenty hours of roll time in total, but that load got delivered on time, my trainer missed out on a service failure, and we went on to have a neck of a good time for the rest of my training period.
Darned near teamed with that Florida Gator Boy bigger. Would've, if he didn't live in that glorified swamp. We got along great right from the outset and complemented each other as drivers. I could do the "keep the left door closed and haul ###" thing, he could back that darned truck into a matchbox, blindfolded!
Throughout the rest of my time on his truck, we swapped back and forth on the old comic book (despite it being electronic). One would drive til he got tired, then the other would hop into the saddle. Swap drivers on the computer whenever a clock would expire.
Probably the only team style operation in Werner's history that ran outta hours almost every week! But gol darn did that truck crank some serious miles!Lepton1 Thanks this.
