My first paycheck, right out of school, for 2 weeks, $2,345.40 for 93.75 hours, before deductions. Averaged more for rest of year as my hours increased.

that works out to $1,150 i make $1050 and dont have the expenses associated with living on the road and go home to my kids at night, which not only ensures im in their life daily it also saves on daycare that would be required if i was OTR. when i look at it that way, im actually getting a really good deal. im starting to accept the quirks of my job and take the good with the bad, there is allot more good then bad.

this week i did 7 days AND i delivered two loads to the local plant. usually i do drop and hook, i get extra for the plant delivery; i will be in the $1,250-$1,300 range. good week, and i have tomorrow off.

The problem with gross is some don't deduct their expenses and will post it, then the newbies come by and think they will make $500k a year.

Work 7 days to maybe break a grand?
That comes out to a whopping $130.00 bucks a day.
In my area, unemployment pays more than that.

Exactly my thoughts. Gross income is the way to compare. I withhold maximum for retirement. Others don’t want that. I pay for extra life insurance. My company has decent health insurance. That comes out of the pay. Etc.

Do you have to buy nine separate life insurance policies?

Ok 1) he hauls milk so he can be home nightly.
    2) he’s a relatively new driver, you don’t start at 6-figures.
    3) unemployment is not a lifestyle. Frankly, it’s for losers who don’t feel like working.
