That can't be good. Unfortunately emailing or calling your rep does diddly squat. They are beholden to powerful, deep pocketed lobbyists.

 

Those of us compensated for all of our hours are a minority. Many drivers are complacent with the fact there is no compensation for waiting time. It’s pathetic but has been like that for decades

 

I always find it fascinating how a small group of individuals like DC lobbyists can have a stranglehold over millions of hardworking Americans like truck drivers because we let them. Before you tell to mind my own business, I'm a dual citizen of the US and Canada so I have a dog in the fight.

 

I called my US congressman. Boy they like to sneak this stuff in on us!

 

I found that out years ago. I wrote a congressman expressing my opposition to a bill they were sponsoring and I got a reply thanking me for supporting it. In other words “oppose” means “support” in doublespeak.

 

On a related note and is kinda how politicians work ... Amazon had to turn off the rating feature on the Comey book that was recently released. So many were giving it awful reviews, they decided to not allow any more. So, in their mind, everything is just fine. Never mind what the people really feel. If the people start to turn against you, just shut them out entirely. No more opinions from the constituents? Then everything is hunky dory.

They literally live completely removed from the reality of their constituents. They only live in the reality of their little incestuous world of DC
