Depends on where you're based out of, what you're hauling, where you're hauling it to. Reefer spot market rates are typically a bit higher than dry van, but there are a lot of variables. What are they offering per mile and what kind of freight is it? Is it their equipment or are you an O/O?

If their equipment and they tell you when you're running and where, run. Run as fast and as far as you can. (I would)

Based out of eau claire wisconsin its their equipment .45 cpm is whats been offered. Is this good for a 1099 contractor. Warn me soon if its not please. Also they tell me where and when to go. Its a very small company.

NO. You can do better. 45 with no benefits is like 25 maybe 30 cents a mile with benefits. Several companies paying 45 with benefits. Maverick (flatbed) I think pays that. Others too I'm sure.

DSK333, BigBob410 and Vitruvius Thank this.

@Chinatown can probably give you a list a mile long on better options than 45 on a 1099.

Working a 1099 job, where you are responsible for taxes, both sides of SS, and at least a small disability policy, you need to make 25-30% more to cover those costs.
Your $0.45/mi is really about $0.32/mi. There are probably plenty of $0.45/mi W-2 jobs available in your area, so why short yourself?

    BigBob410 Thanks this.

This doesn't answer your question but eau claire is full of legit trucking companies that pay w-2 and some even home daily

Menards and Walmart are always hiring drivers .

You really should check out indeed.com
