I was hoping that I might be able to skirt having to ride with a trainer again, but I guess 7 months ain't enough for them. But with the rise I will get out of it I think I can put up with it again for a sort time.

I took the short bus to driving school:biggrin_25525:. Does that count?

I got a major surprise out of Wilmer last Tuesday. 'Drop your empty, and bobtail to Lafayette, IN for a new trailer.' :smt103 or more like :smt119:smt119:smt119:smt119:smt038 17 empty miles, and 918 loaded (loaded with my 5th wheel that is) Once I was in Lafayette, offered 3 loads, all 3 delivering by Friday. I took Ochelata, OK (Bartlesville Walmart). Ended up with a 2800 mile week. Then deadhead to K/C to pick up a load to Roanoke, TX (Ft. Worth) for Saturday. Now the only thing moving is picking up Monday, had a choice, Huchinson KS or Dallas to Robert, LA. I picked the one out of Dallas to LA. Still no complaints. Will be tough to get a great week with only 1200 miles by Tuesday, but I will be empty early... Hopefully something at least 8-900 miles by Friday. So now I'm back in Wilmer this weekend so I can do laundry and shower for free. It's wall to wall trucks in here again and the Loves has a bunch of Crete/Shaffer's there as well. I have seen very few Hunt trucks sitting around the yards... I wonder if their doing better than us box haulers.

It was weird at the trailer plant the other day. There were around 70 or so Crete's... all but a few had the red 'advertising' on them. And the rumor in Wilmer last weekend is that there is a good chance of a major TL company going out of business by March, and that we're expecting an increase in freight...at least that's what some new hires were saying they heard when in orientation. (not sure if they heard other drivers talking about it, or if someone in charge said it...don't want to get anything started but...good news for us, bad news for the other drivers if it is true) The weird part, you ever hear the low whistle our trailers ICC bumpers make when the wind is blowing? Imagine a couple hundred trailers sitting side by side...all whistling the same key.... If it were at night and a full moon.... Spooky:biggrin_2551:

My apologies. My spare time has been occupied with the training thing and we don't do much sitting around. Freight has been great since I left PHX. As a matter of fact, I've had a choice of 3 loads a couple of times.

Currently sitting at a receiver waiting for a dock. Load info said we had an 8am appointment. We arrived at 7am only to be told our appointment was for 9am. So I have a little time on my hands.

Miles have been good. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 3300 last week and I am currently sitting at 1200+ as Tuesday night.

I'm working on the weekly updates for the last month.

It's rather odd how they go about this. I've picked up a new trailer from there twice and both times I bobtailed between 500-700 miles. I know there are a number of trucks in the area and don't know why they pull trucks from the far flung corners of the country to pickup these trailers.

Any idea who this major TL company might be?

I've been getting a number of multi load offers too. It's nice to have a choice of load again for a change. Although the load I'm on now was a single load offer. Why else would I be in the Boston area?

Thanks for that list Redbeard. There are a few in there I didn't know about. Should come in handy in the future.

If they told you two weeks, then that is all you will have to do. Don't worry too much, it goes by quick and there is even a chance that you will be able to get off the trainers truck sooner. It's up to your trainer and the head of the training department. No guarantees, but it's possible.
