Also, watch what the other students are doing, and how the trucks move.
Unlike vehicles that are all one piece, trucks accelerate their turns as you keep the wheel turned longer. This will take a lot of getting used to, but once you catch on, it will allow you to make more accurate setups for backing.Grove_LA, x1Heavy and Truckergirl78 Thank this. -
With a little practice it will click. Ive pulled vans.....its super b tankers that took a little getting used to up here in Canada.
My tip is 'find the shape' first....i.e. line up in the general direction that you want to back into. Wherever possible, try and back in on your 'good' side.
When backing up, looking in your mirrors, whichever way the trailer starts to move, turn the steering wheel the same way. So, the trailers moves left in your mirror, turn the steering wheel left too....should put you back straight again.
Find an empty parking lot and have half an hours practice....it will clickTruckergirl78 Thanks this. -

Remember these words when turning the wheel to back: "Less is more." You don't want to over steer. Your trailer will tell you exactly what you need to do
