If trying a 2/8/2/8 split, say I’ve used all my time driving/on-duty after the first 8. If I take a 2 hr. Break now will I gain anything back or No?

You will if you have hours on your 70.
When you take the 2 hour you will have completed a "10" hour break basically.. you will get hours back like you took a 10 _Minus_ the on-duty time you used between the split, 8 and 2.

The 8hour has to be logged as sleeper birth for it to work. The two hour can be off-duty or SB.

Wait let me think about this, you say you did the 2 first right? so let's say for easy example you used 5.5 hours off your 11 and did it in 7 hours on your 14 then took a 2 hour break. Now you have 5.5 hours left to drive and 7 hours to do it in. so you say you used up those remaining 5.5 and 7 hours then took an 8 sleeper, you should have the balance of 5.5 and 7 hours available after. Minus any pretrip or other short offduty breaks you also took so keep track of those too.

I misread that somehow. For some reason I thought it was an 8/2. :tard: forget what I said.

Easiest eay to think of this is you get back whatever you didn't use between the two breaks.

Once you take the two hour break your calculation point moves to the end of the previous break. So subtract what you did between the end of the 8 and the end of the 2 from a fresh clock and that's what you have to work with.

just to repeat an important fact

the 2 hours doesn't stop the clock, it is part of the on duty clock.

8 hours will stop the clock.

    2/8/ won't work.

Not sure what you.are responding to, but I use 2/8 all the time to make a tight delivery after being held up at the shipper.
