Swift also uses the 10xxxx on cans and I believe the 09xxxx are pups or 48 foot. 57xxxx are 57 foot trailers.

I went to Sears to pick up a load this morning. The guard had no reference to it, and neither did the office.
After CSR got involved it was determined that it was not scheduled to pick up until tomorrow morning. Someone at Swift had 'updated' the pick up time.
In the end they said I could pick it up any time after 1830 tonight. That does not help me, since my 14 ends at 1900.
The delivery is 180 miles away with a 0900 live unload time - at an apartment complex it seems.
It's going to be an early morning start for sure.
My DM said he would get me some extra pay for the trouble. -
Don't they allow overnight parking? Get over there at 1800 and log Sleeper for 8 hours then roll out at 0215 AM after a little pretrip then arrive at the customer about 0700 after breakfast and do another 8 hours Sleeper and be ready for your next load late in the afternoon.

I do not sleep at the customer site, I do not do 8 hour anythings except for a standard work day.
With an 8 hour Sleeper I might get 2 hours of sleep. Dangerous.
I plan my days to work normal (ish) working hours. You know that, so...
I was sent a pplan today.
It picked up a few hours after my delivery tomorrow and delivered at 2300 the next night for a live unload at a grocery place.
I would have made a couple hundred of the 450 loaded miles tomorrow, then I would have had to sit all the next day before driving the last couple hundred for a 2300 delivery that might last until 0300.
Not going to happen.
I do not plan my time around the loads offered to me as much as plan the loads around my own time.
If they do not fit my own schedule I do not do it. Period.A21CAV Thanks this. -
Why don’t you sleep at the customer?
So if you do a ten hour break does that mean you might only get four hours sleep?

I get that you like to run at your own pace but...I guess we have very different approaches to the job.
I’ve read many of your posts and I think a lot of what you say about being “rushed” or “overworked” applied more when we had paper logs and guys/gals could REALLY over extend themselves. E-logs force you to take your breaks when needed. If you can log it you should be able to do it, in my opinion. -

Don’t let the company disturb the most important thing to all humans, sleep. Plan your day around that time, nothing else matters. This job is a dime a dozen, I deny all trips that interfere with my sleep or ability to find a safe spot with services, not a customer site. Truck drivers lower their expectations for what is suitable such as where to rest properly, it should not be this way. If it doesn’t have what most the other regular working public has then why not us?

Wow, guess I’m in the minority around here. I’m not out here for “services” or sleep. I’m here to earn. Like I said before E-log gets me plenty of rest. If I’m not home on my couch I want my wheels turning as much as possible.
One difference may be that I’m in a regional fleet so none of my loads are over 660 miles. Starting my day at the customer and using the 8 hour break are important for me. Sometimes they unload early and sometimes not, you just don’t know.
If I were coast to coast it might be different. -
I don't mind being a little flexible with 8 hour breaks, but I choose that, if they put a load on me that forces me to have to do an 8/2 I will have to think about whether there are any advantages for me to do it.
