Did you have a good time at the casino? I got to see Charlie Daniels do a short concert at the Ameristar last year.

I kept on truckin by it, maybe next time I'll stop and win my retirement fund. Was gonna try to get in a restart, but around 9 am Monday morning a load to Michigan appears, so off I go.

I think my truck is haunted. A while back, when I had my truck turned back up to 70 after I decided not to venture into Canada any more, I pulled another Daseke company's trailer from Mascot to Spring Hill. At that time, everything worked. The next load I pulled, I notice that the trailer it was loaded on didn't have brake lights...after about 15 minutes of troubleshooting, I discovered that the breaker that protects the trailer brake lights was moved from the proper circuit to a spare slot. I know the other company's trailer had brake lights because one of the last things I double check is looking for the lights reflecting off of a trailer (or the ground or whatever) behind me in the mirrors as I release the parking brake before I roll. I put the breaker back in it's proper slot, and everything is fine. Then this morning, I check out my equipment and securement, fix a marker light that had come unplugged, and roll out. During my travels thru Illinois, I had turned my lights off and on several times due to intermittent rain showers and I could see my trailer marker lights working every time. But, before I got all the way thru IN (on I-94), I hit another heavy rain storm, but when I turned on my lights, I had no front marker lights(or lights on my cab visor once I got out to check the pigtail). I pulled into the MI welcome center, checked my pigtail and then opened the fuse box only to find the fuse that controls that circuit was not blown but..... GONE...pooof. I checked all around the compartment where that fusebox is mounted and it didn't just vibrate out...it disappeared. So, I got out a spare fuse and plugged it in and everything is back to normal...too weird.

Well, tomorrow is the last payday for the 1st half of the year, and thus far, I am just under $38k. To put that in perspective with my Big G experience (which was right at 6 months), I made $25,200 there. So, I increased my income by more than 50% coming here. And also, 3 1/2 months of that 6 months here, we were at a lower cpm, and had a lower pay for layover and live loads...so here is to a brighter future

You're also running a specialized freight too... That makes a big difference because generally Has their ducks in a row and the customers are usually more pleasant and more coordinated And organized than a than a dry van warehouse... This is one reason why I will never gone back to pulling a Van on general fright

I would have a hard time going back to pulling a box as well...that and going to grocery warehouses, or general freight warehouses for that matter. Here, it's cut and dried, I know what my job is and they know what their job is, and it's all pretty much the same procedure to unload...and no lumpers to futz with. It's dirty, it's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and I wouldn't want to do anything else.Last edited: Jun 29, 2018
