okay couple weeks ago ran into a driver car hauler claim he made 3 dollars a mile as a company driver that doesn't sound right but maybe its possible anyone care to say that's possible or was he full of piss I know my uncle after military he purchased his own truck he was making 1.45 a mile OTR but that was many years ago has since retired I know its possible make more but 3$ a mile as a company driver seems far-fetched and he claimed they pay for him stay in hotel any time he is away from home.

The only way a company driver is making that is if he's only running locals. A good carhauler will make six figures, or close to it, but $3/mile isn't the norm.

Probably 3 a mile on 50 mile runs, never mind the other 3/4 hrs of loading and unloading.

I get $2.50 a mile on my BEST route. But local makes money on volume, not distance. I can do two shorter runs of 7-car(all we do is 7-vehicle loads), be out in 6/7 hours and get about $250/day or pick a third and ALWAYS clear $350+ I am really tired of this much work and will be leaving local soon enough.

I've made $4 a mile on a shuttle run. If you only count going one way. And of course, like was said above, you still gotta load and unload them plus the empty miles back to get another. I guess it's all in how you spin it!!
