This is why i carry a couple pancakes with me. That spring on the maxi side can put a hurting on you, but as long as you pay attention and double check your work before removing the clamp its fine.
The journey begins - purchased a truck.

We’re those TRP brand? These were.
They didn’t tell me what brand they had till I had paid up and went to load them. I was really wanting Bendix or similar.rollin coal, csmith1281 and Oxbow Thank this. -
Anymore I ask for a part, then clarify I don't want trp brand n if that's all they got don't bother.
Idk that everything they make is junk- but I haven't been impressed with the quality of any of their stuff I've seen yet.whoopNride, blairandgretchen, sawmill and 4 others Thank this. -
Whatever generic Fleetpride had. The 4 new ones back then were TRP.
Feedman Thanks this. -
A huge sigh of relief, tempered by numerous applications of Woodward Reserve Select, as the master of this epic tale returns (after an agonizing wait of thirty six (36) consecutive days) of relative silence.....

My first service failure - complete with abusive phone call from agent.
I knew it had to happen at some point.
Agent calls me on Thursday, looking to move a load he’s had on the board all morning and hasn’t covered. I’d seen it on there, but wasn’t that interested, it wasn’t paying anything great, and it was a 260 mile dead head.
Well known agent, I’d just never worked with him before. So I agree, and he bumped the rate up to about $5/mile on the board for loaded miles.
Leave the house at 3am on Friday, go to pick up, fill in the blanks left out, like - where to go etc. Dodge lightning loading, secure, tarp - roll on.
O Hare. Cargo places are open 7 days. Agent says they don’t want it Saturday, but will take it Sunday or Monday.
I get there Saturday afternoon, truck stop close by is full, decide to go and check in, see if they have any parking there to hang out till the morning. They ask for the paperwork, I show, and theyre happy to take it off.
If it were me - I’d rather have $2 million of freight nice and secure inside - than roaming around on a flatbed in Chicago - right?
Wrong.
I send all the photos and checklists and stuff to the agent. Immediately get an email - “call me”.
I did.
Agent - “What part of ‘deliver Sunday or Monday ‘ did you not understand?”
Me - “Well, parking was limited close by so I decided . . . -
Agent - “I don’t give a S___ - this is B_____T !!!
I began to explain my thinking - he rants on a bit more about the Sunday/Monday thing, then finishes with
“Don’t ever F______g call me again, A______le!”
And hangs up.
Never explained why it was such a big deal delivering high $ freight 12 hours earlier - just immediately angry and abusive.
I’m still stumped. The Cargo place took it happily, set it inside. They’re open 7 days . . . ? No damage - all photos taken, bracing and blocking correct, tarped, . . . I thought I was doing a good job. I guess not.Itsbrokeagain, stwik, magoo68 and 12 others Thank this. -
You should email him back and tell him that he called you, you didn't call him on the load. Lol.
I would say you did a good job. I do know some customers request certain delivery days and don't want it delivered early. Not sure if the shipper didn't want the load delivering on Saturday for some reason. Idk...NoBigHurry, Feedman and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Storage fee's Blair. The freight forwarding company is going to charge somebody to store it an extra night.
I've taken a few loads where it is "just pick it up today so the customers don't get charged more storage fees"NoBigHurry, jsnell, Lepton1 and 6 others Thank this. -
That's a lot of money. 11'x9' is just shy of $2k per 24 hours if it's more than 36/48 hours before or after it gets on or off the plane @ most of the airlines at JFK.
Another reason I want a warehouse.stwik, NoBigHurry, Lepton1 and 7 others Thank this.
