The best service and largest coverage area,. for when you need to have phone service and internet in more places than any of the others,.. then it has to be Verizon. No one else comes close. You will pay more, particularly for data with Verizon. I have 4 lines and 20 gb plan. Our bill is over $200 month. But I need to have the service.
AT&T would be a 2nd choice. Not quite as large as Verizon,.. but unless you work in the boonies,. it would probably be more affordable with similar service to Verizon. Especially with their Direct TV and data plan.
Others like Sprint, TMobile and some of the pay as you go will be a lot more affordable. But their reliability and service area is mainly in urban areas. I have used both and there were many dropped calls and many areas where there was simply no service at all.
You have to weigh in with what you need. I need service any where, any time. My business depends on it. So I am willing to pay more to have the best service available. I dont like it,.. but you get what you pay for.
If you run a dedicated lane or stick mainly to urban areas,.. then one of the cheaper alternatives might work out for you.

Verizon 24gigs unlimited talk 130$
Straight talk is a good option unless your going to use your phone as a hot spot then it becomes more expensive than Verizon.
Sprint and T-Mobile at t all suck. Why?
Because they have only certain areas that their coverage is addiquit.
For a otr driver Verizon just can't be beat.
If I was off the road it would in fact be T-Mobile or straight talk for where I live in the West.Last edited: Dec 3, 2016

Cricket is terrible cross country as I have currently cricket. You will have no service in wyoming parts of Nevada etc
-
For full nationwide coverage, you will need to use either Verizon or AT&T. And a postpaid account, not prepaid. And to add to that, every carrier has spots of NO coverage. just a fact of life.
The prepaid accounts have a lower priority tier coverage, so where your prepaid calls drop out, there is a good chance a postpaid call will hold.
I have been on vacations out west to spots where no one, no matter the carrier, had cell coverage. -
I really didn't have a problem with Cricket I had service in a lot of areas I didn't expect.
best suggestion would be to look at cricket coverage map and compare it to where you normally would run and see if it'll be a better fit. they do have a pretty big coverage Gap through Wyoming and Nebraska and that's the same with AT & T service it's actually roaming.
If you use an iPhone Verizon has a prepaid service now it's invite only but it's run by Verizon... It's called Verizon Visible. Supposedly it's 40 bucks unlimited everything.. -
I have Verizon unlimited. 125/mo including 23/mo of which is my phone. First 22 gigs are 4G then it selectively throttles the speed which honestly I’ve never noticed.

Straight talk is unlimited everything for only 55. No contract. And uses the verizon network.... Ita a no brainer...
