Try and fuel at end of your day. That way you get free shower credit you can use it during your 10 hour break.
Because of the 30 minutes break every 8 hours. Some days you are forced to take two 30 minutes breaks. If you drive first 3 hours none stop, take 30 minutes break. You can then finish the day without stopping for 30 minutes. You can stop say 15 minutes for snack or bathroom and keep going.nax Thanks this. -
Oh another thing. This messed my sleep pattern baaaaad, which in turn, messed my efficiency.
If You do drop trailer at a DC, don't hang around to wait for it. The stoooopid yard dog kept blaring his horn, when I was tryna catch some shut eye.
I wished I had left the yard. Drove 10 miles to a truck Stop, find the remotest stop and sleep, wait till they call me to grab my empty.
Rest of that day was rough, to say the least, but got caught up, thx to paper logs.x1Heavy and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
If you need a shower in middle of day. You can take a shower during your 30 minute break. It may take 45-60 minutes but you only losing 15-30 minutes on your 14 hour day. Because the first 30 minutes was the required break. By the time pack clothes in bag walk across parking lot get shower and get back to truck it normal takes 1 hour or 1.5 hours
The same thing for washing clothes. You can put clothes in washer. That's 30 minutes. They put them in dryer and that 45 minutes to dry them. If your short on time you can go get a shower and you finish both at the same time. So you save 40 minutes. -
Your clock doesn't start until you start the engine. You should always condense your must do's, like fuel/shower/sleep/eat into ONE stop. So, stop at end of day and shower etc then bed time OR stop at end of day, sleep, the in morning fuel shower eat and go. Do not start your day and stop every 100 mi to eat or shower or fuel. That's what wastes time, getting off the hwy, getting into the truck stop etc then back out to the hwy.Another thing, easier to fuel and shower at 4 am than 4 pm ! Right ? Good rule of thumb....have 100 mi under your belt before the sun comes up !
Truckermania, Cattleman84, RayBlaszak and 2 others Thank this. -
Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately my company requires me to fuel where they assign me. I currently work in the OR but am leaving healthcare so having a trained bladder isnt an issue as we often go 12 plus hours without any kind of break or ability to use the restroom.

If you're a dude learn how to tinkle into a cup in a moving vehicle. That could save you about 6 minutes every bladder evacuation. When you have that down pat learn to hold the cup until some pekkerhead decides to ride your mirror because he's too stupid to realize you're going slower than he is then give him some assistance in cleaning his windshield. Doing that will remove time from his 20 minutes of windshield cleaning at the fuel pump after he has already fueled and the poor driver that's stukk behind him will pull out less of his hair because he knows if he gets out of the trukk and tells the schmukk to move that could possibly result in another prison sentence. In the end everybody benefits. Best of lukk to you.
