Mercer's new load board

    Yeah I was nervous coming over too.... Starting out was a little and frustrating until freight picked up and I learned the load board.
    This past February was very good and was my best month at Mercer. March is shaping up to be even better.
    I run a little different than most. The only hometime I take is a few weeks in the summer and a couple months in winter.

    Once you learn the board and such...it's not bad....everything is pointing to this being a record year...crossing fingers

    @OakMan I was also a driver for Interstate her in Tacoma,Wa. I have been trying to find info about Mercer and the consistency of their load board. I appreciate the info you have provided. Would you recommend a fleet owner to join the Mercer team or would that be more of a struggle to keep the trucks moving?

    I don't think there would be problem keeping trucks moving. Freight in the west is not Mercer's strong point. Midwest, South, and Southeast are very good. NW always seems to be pretty thin on freight and rates. And I am talking about van...

    I’m in the process of starting up with Mercer, I keep hearing that the west coast
    Freight isn’t all that good I rarely see mercer trucks out west I hope I don’t have to switch carriers I did well at Landstar just way too many rules....

    I see more Mercer trucks when I run west than I do anywhere else except for this week. I've seen a bunch of them in the South. I pull a van at Mercer and I don't think you'll do well staying west. You'll be ok if you will come to the Midwest/south and run till you go home. There's usually decent/good freight going to Portland or Seattle but getting out of there is almost always bad.

    I’m looking to run to Tx then back to
    Cal and yes I don’t care who you are leased to getting out of the Pacific Northwest is tough...

    I wish you luck but running back and forth like that isn't a very good way you make money at Mercer pulling a van. Freight to Texas from out there doesn't pay good and the freight from Texas to the West isn't that good. Not trying to squash your plans but give you real expectations.

    My opinion of the west. Don't do van here unless you want to stay away from home for awhile. Man the fxxk up and pull an open deck. California is the best place to be for this, though. It's way easier than you think. It gets you out of the truck and moving. If you have questions, almost anyone will help you.

    I'm 52 now. I started a little over a year ago in open deck. The people (shippers/receivers) are night and day difference from van or reefer. I started with a Mercer flat. 3 months later I bought my own step. Couldn't be happier.
