Carrier Unit won't get below 9 degrees. Need -5

Is the ball in the sight glass on the reciever tank floating? If not it still might be low on freon.Other things to check-is it running on high speed,is the head pressure on the system high,if so the condensor might need to be washed,is the outside of the trailer sweating-if so the trailer insulation itself is degraded or never rated for low freezer load.Other possibilites such as bad compressor heads or tx valve will likely require you to take it to a shop for repair.Hope you get it workin.

 

The shaft seal on the compressor is probably leaking.Thats a big job so they'll have to shop it for repair.Sounds like they're due for a new trailer maybe.

 

Did you plug up your drain holes?

 

why are you working on there trailer to start with. let it all melt if they dont want to fix it.

 

Head north, do not stop until Reefer pulls temp you require from a drop in outside temp.

Get a water hose, spray the entire unit cover off from the front of your trailer.

The resulting ice covering should cause your engine to find a little more cool to work harder against and boost your temp from 9 down below zero to -5 you seek.

 

What can make it tough is if the trailer is really designed for chilled rather than frozen. If the trailer is still attached to the truck/ tractor best thing to do if you not moving is unhook the truck pull it forward that gives the reefer more air to breathe you should see the temps start to come down right away.

 

That’s good enough 0 degrees. You going hurt anything at 5 degrees difference. Stop opening the doors or the trap doors. If you must peek inside shut off the unit before u do it. The product is probable sitting at 0 or 5 degrees is why it not dropping lower
