We are hiring a lot of places. Just went through a boondoggle with management. Not really important.

I know a lady transferred to Sanger that loves it there. Going to see a lot of DFW, Palastine runs more Houston and Loisianna I think.

You think? This statement alone shows how naive you clearly are. I mean unless you work in human resources at both of these DCs. I'm actually curious how many open driver positions are at both of these DCs since you know they are "hiring a lot."

06 Driver thank you for your response. As for MikeyJay referring to Sanger and Palestine let me correct the “a lot”: The last year they have had openings. I am a former Palestine warehouse worker 7 yrs at 6005 back in the day, so I already know how Walmart operates, but I keep an eye out, sue me. Seeing as I read thru numerous threads lurking before I posted I knew this was a touchy subject with all the changes. I thought I would take a chance. I just wanted to know if there was any talk on how these DCs operated from the point of view of truckers. But thanks for the comment.

Well the transportation side doesn't bring in drivers depending on how the warehouse is doing as far as warehouse openings or speed. If anything, drivers are brought in to work when the freight is supposed to be ready to go. As far as from our point of view, a warehouse is either meeting their dock out times or they aren't. Nothing much else. Drivers only care about warehouse productivity when it affects them i.e wait time. Just like stores mostly only care about drivers when a load is late.

A few questions, I start orientation for Grandview, WA in a couple of weeks
What brand of ELD does Walmart use?
Does every new driver go out with a mentor? Even experienced drivers?
Do we also get a footwear allowance with our uniforms?
    Thanks

We use PeopleNet. You will go out with a mentor, not sure if it’s DC dependent on how long or not, but I went out with 3 over 2.5 weeks before going solo. You will stay in hotels every night while with a mentor, and should only be Mon-Fri.
You will receive uniforms and 2 jackets, no footwear allowance AFAIK.

    GEPPETTO425 and truckdriver31 Thank this.

Ummm Walmart doesn’t hire inexperienced drivers, so yes, every new Walmart driver goes out with a mentor so you can learn the Walmart way of doing things and how to run the peoplenet system, ntransit, navigo etc..
