Here is a brief go over of what happened to myself:
I am a professional musician and 47 years old, married to my Jr High School sweetheart that has polio is now wheel chair bound. We decided around May of 2018 that I should make a life/career change. So we decided becoming a professional truck driver was the way to go. I have a criminal background, nothing crazy and all of it ten years or older. I began applying to trucking companies that offered training. I got turned down by at least 12 or so, completely discouraging us. In june I was contacted by Stevens Transport, on the very first call I was completely honest and transparent about my background even going so far as to sending them my actual criminal background.
They sent me to Colorado for school..I became the top student acing my exams and road test...got to Stevens in Dallas...again top of the class..picked first by a trainer to hit the road...then boom fired after getting 4 managers to sign
Off on my background and sent home...this company is THE WORST...lies, broken promises, and 0 respect ...don’t believe anything they tell you!

You didn’t lose much. Stevens saved you a ton of heartache. Had you stayed there, this thread would’ve been about something totally different.(See the Stevens Transport threads) You dodged a major bullet. Consider yourself lucky.

There are other companies out there that will hire you in spit of your past, so don’t be discouraged.

I don't know how anyone drives for refer outfits these days with E-logs & the customers they deliver for.
Never had so much of my time wasted as I did running refer.
Getting up for a 2am delivery & finding out it was just for staging untill a dock became available is a bunch of BS.

Have you ever considered a challenging and rewarding career in the custodial arts?

You’ll make more than you did as a “professional musician”.

Well at least you were able to get your license out of them. Thanks for the info as I am thinking about working for them.

Did a guy like that when I was with them 3 years ago. They waited until he had done his 240 hours with his trainer and fired him when he returned to Dallas. We went to Trans Am and was doing better last time I saw him. Good luck in your endeavors.

What are the convictions for that you say are minor?
