I just do my laundry when I have to take a 34. On the account I'm on now, I run out of driving hours and have to take a 34 every 5.5 to 6 days.

I am in a good mood, had a nice day. So listen up, pay attention. I am going to share a secret with you. One that all the old timers no, but do t talk about. We laugh at new guys when they cant figure out why we get more and better loads. How come our checks are so much larger. Ready?? Ok here it comes. DONT tell anyone I told you. And don' tell any other new guys.
1) when you get a load, trip plan it. How fat you plan yo drive each day, and where your gonna stop.
2) when you stop for the night, get off the internet. Go SSS (#### shower shave) then go to bed.
3) In the morning before you leave. Fill your thermos, make sure you have your days snacks. (Chips or fruit doesn't matter, just have days supply)
4) The biggie!! Once you start and get on the big road. LEFT DOOR CLOSED, RIGHT ANKLE BENT.dwells40, Lepton1 and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -

I use the pressure washing system for laundry.
I pile my clothes in a big pile. Every morning I pull out clothes from the bottom of the pile. They've been washed from the pressure of the pile...
Oldironfan, tommymonza and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Actually we would consider the nature of our bodies in times of when we expect to dispose of wastes. We would like to be somewhere nice to do that stuff. Preferably at the end of day.
Never mind the canned foods. We would buy fresh baby onions mini red potatoes, chopped virginia ham (Honest to goodness by oll virginny ham big slices... and a dab of brossel sprouts etc. Throw all that into two dutch ovens off the 12 volt cig lighter sockets, let em cook all day as you put away the driving 11 hours or whatever. The last 3 hours should be a happy time ready to anticipate and enjoy that dinner which should be done by then and smelling like home in that cab.
We do a little can where necessary for food, but those are bulky and heavy which could be a real problem against tare weight plus becoming projectiles that can possibly put your lights out on a bad bridge or something as you slam across.
Those dutch ovens provided some of the meals that we still remember to this day. The recipie I gave you here is known as Hoover stew. Started in Gallup ready to eat past Kingman and beyond the Dam at Hoover (Before the big bridge was built) Eat that before Vegas and be really strong setting up there for the night.
By morning if the food intake was adequate you do not need breakfast but it will be something to nibble on by lunch time. Because early morning is the time to get everything done, loading, unloading etc.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I once did a four day hike in the Olympic Mountains in Washington with a friend of mine. I prided myself on not bringing anything I wouldn't use every single day, in order to save weight.
We get to the trailhead and as my buddy is lacing his boots I get our packs out of the trunk. My pack weighed about 35 lbs, including fishing tackle and tent. His pack weighed...
...a forklift would have been handy.
He packed a dad gum cast iron Dutch oven!
I was flabbergasted. "You're going to carry that 20 miles up the mountain!!!???"
"Yup."
I'm glad HE carried it. Those dinners were nothing short of spectacular.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I turned off my log book to PC Bob tail 2 miles for lunch. But don't tell anybody. Ok.
