Can any one tell me if the adaptive cruise is supposed to apply the brakes when the cruise is turned off ? The 2017 579 that I am in constantly applied the brakes when there is nothing there. My concern is that if the road is icy it will put me into a skid. That would be bad. I've been to the dealer 4 times so far, nothing fixed and the brake issue seems to be getting more frequent.

Bedix Wingman Fusion is more than adaptive cruise...not sure which system you have, but I read on another thread that the Fusion system will also read speed limit signs and can be set to brake when it thinks you're speeding(even though it might be picking up a sign on an exit or frontage road). Plus the normal Wingman systems I have driven randomly detected the ghost vehicle and hit the brakes, with or without the cruise being on. It's the nature of the system.

    Thanks for the reply
My understanding was it should not.
Think it's time to start looking for a company that has trucks with out training wheels

I agree, I like my company, but all our new trucks are coming with that system, so I have warned them that as soon as I am assigned one, I am finding another job.

I'd want to put a 12ga slug through the dash if i had to deal with that idiotic system!!

Those radar systems have caused several crashes on UPS trucks.. it's a wonder people aren't suing the MFGs ... Yet...

This system is crap. 2017 Pete. Sees reader boards, overpasses, and even scale lights. Right now it's got the traction control light on, abs light, adaptive cruise fault. Cruise won't work, and above consol has error messages. And yes this pc of #### loves to hammer the brakes when the bumper is covered in snow. I retire in January. Hope I live long enough to make it.

I have some experience with these systems. If the radar is located in the bumper i would check to see if the radar is wiggling in the mounts. When the radar flaps around it picks up things it should not. Has the dealer reset the alignment? If not i would request it is aligned and reset in Bendix. Go for a short road test and see what it picks up after alignment.
