That was my point earlier. If I like my DM that much, it’s because they didn’t ask me to do crap for nothing.

They were way way way better when that terminal was OrTran... unfortunately they had to sell to Outwest and went down the ####ter. It's so sad to hear they are getting worse. *sigh* I do not recommend them at all. I give Outwest a 1 star rating. Unfortunately....

When I first started driving in 2007, I found myself in L.A. on my first solo run, the dispatcher for Crete for the area tried to get me on mileage pay to shag loads. I spent 3 days (I didn't know better at the time) shagging trailers and it would have gone on longer if I had allowed it.
The point being, so many big carriers will try and get that "free labor" all in the name of the all mighty dollar.
My company now, Pride Transport, will make sure the OTR driver is taken care of if they need to be used for a local or short run.
As stated by others before, if I like my dispatcher and DM, I will bend over backwards to help them out, but in turn, they will bend over backwards to make sure they get me that next good run.

I dont give anything free. If asked to move a trailer in town dispatch will make a offer usually 1 hour pay which I'll counter and they always agree.
I'm sure the OP's situation is not uncommon. Companies will bleed you dry if given the opportunity.

If You were new, it may be a good idea to do so ONCE. But they better butter your muffins well
if they expect you to do any more favors for them. This is why it's referred to as employment. Not slavery.
the employer, and you have an agreement, you work, they pay. Very simple. They don't send a truck
to haul their stuff for free, the company expects compensation. Why would you be any different?
That was/ is the biggest problem in trucking when I drove, that you should " be proud" that you
are working for them. What happened to the employer to where they should "be proud" to pay their workers
so that the American trucker can contribute their pay to help the American economy. It goes back to what
people were saying years ago about the " transfer of wealth", from the working class to the top 1% who
rip off people every day. Drivers who don't get paid, do not " spread the wealth" in their own communities,
they cannot spend dollars in the towns they drive through, or deliver to. The trucking company
owners laugh themselves silly, at what they get away with. And if you are licensed in a different state than
where the trucking company is based out of, you cannot go to your state labor board, because you are
working for an out of state company. Good luck going to the state where the trucking company is based,
as you are not a resident of that state, they may not take it up, or worse, keep asking you to return
to that state for depositions, which may cost you more than the company owes you. That's why these
companies recruit heavily in the states where they are not based. Thanks for the heads up driver.

On a lark, I filled out an application with Outwest when I was pissed at the company I was working for at the tome. I did not in the end change jobs, but two years later Outwest is still calling me about that application.

    I blocked the recruiters number.

    Probably not a good sign.

    It sounds as bad as or a little worse than Ortran that they bought out;
