Thank you - better explanation of my thoughts on it.
We have family in Denham Springs that flooded.
God speed to all that are headed to assist in any way.fargonaz Thanks this. -
Well, I missed a 400 mile load paying $4000 by about 3 minutes earlier today. A mobile generator that was drop and hook to South Carolina. Can't believe that slipped by me.
No worries, tomorrow I'm thinking 500 mile loads paying $5000 sound even better -
Remember that HOS are out the window when hauling relief aid.
That means no logs necessary.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
just need to find the relief aid doesn't seem to have any yet

I saw a posting on Saturday for $1200/day to the truck, whether you move or not. Hauling generators out of White Plains, NY.
Doing_flatbed_nc Thanks this. -
Also, if you are a single o/o, think about who is gonna help you and your family out if something like this happens (stole it from Facebook today, it's in SC)
MagnumaMoose, Lepton1 and Doing_flatbed_nc Thank this. -
Honestly, if that happens to me, the only pay I'll be getting is for the scrap minus the tow and cranes... so, I'd owe. Then off to the truck store to buy another truck.
It would really really suck but, that's life. -
Last year my brother ran a relief load right after the hurricane in Houston. Beyond the unpredictable nature of what we see in that picture is the VERY predictable nature of flooding. You are LIKELY going to have to take your truck through stretches of floodwater. That did a number on his transmission, so that high paying load didn't pay so well, did it?
Protect your truck. It's your livelihood. If you are going to take the risk of running relief supplies then get paid for the risks you will take. Be prepared for down time for repairs afterwards and the cost of repairs. Otherwise you are right up there with O/O's accepting a $10K load to Alaska, just so you can say you did it. -
That's his bn own fault they can force you to drive in flood water that was his Choice I did it for sandy never put my truck in danger except for driningvth et ough the storm made 12k in a week no truck repairs needed
