It was not a retread tire. It was a new tire. Yes all the thread came off but the tire was still inflated at 100 psi. Strange

That type of defect comes from the rubber not being properly cured to the surface of the tire and sidewalls in the manufacturing process
This would qualify as a defect in materials and workmanship, which would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
Contact the Brigestone representative in your area for how you can file a claim.
I would also change the other steer tire too as they may be from the same batch.
Take alot of pictures and do not dispose of the tire until a Bridgestone represenative personally inspects it.Last edited: Sep 27, 2018
Feedman, MagnumaMoose, magoo68 and 5 others Thank this. -
Ya , if your lucky they’ll give you $50 credit towards a new tire......
mtoo Thanks this. -
about $50.00 if you are lucky Bridgestone is very aware of this problem it's happening a lot I have a pair now that I will soon replace mine the rubber is chunking off .. these tires should of been recalled and replaced Bridgestone choose to ignore the problem I have run Bridgestone for quite awhile now but no more

AND PICK UP THE GATOR FOR EVIDENCE! I had a similar experience with a BRAND NEW Hankook steer with 1 day and less then a hundred miles on my old Pete....what an ### ache to get satisfaction. Dealer denied all responsibility, and as I was a owner operator with my own authority and got the set on my friends account, then they said I bought them from my friend and it wasnt their problem, THEN I had to get a whole other company involved because it wasnt my account.......eventually they gave me another tire, wouldnt replace the other 'good' Hankook steer or my fender and waved goodbye.....

Thats really strange. And Bridgestone is supposed to be a pretty good steer tire.
If the tire was properly maintained (Air pressure checked daily) then I would agree with you. That was a defective tire. The problem is that there is no way for you to prove it. If that happened 3 days out,.. then yeah,.. go file a claim. But 3 months out? Sorry,.. you will have to eat this one.

Infamous Bridgestone r283a. These are defective tires. I had one started chucking tread real bad but at 90k miles. I went with Michelins.
If you search forum there's more threads about defective Bridgestone r283a's
I think there should be class action suit against Bridgestone.cjb logistics Thanks this. -
Just got in a brand new Pete 567 a month ago, Bridgestone rubber all the way around. First stop was the tire shop to have the Bridgestone steers replaced with some Continentals. I personally know too many drivers that have had Bridgestone steers let go on them rolling down the road. Although I haven’t experienced it, for some reason I have a bad taste in my mouth over Bridgestone steers.

tire warranty is worthless anyways and usually don't even cover what you get from a core anyways . I had a pair of Bridgestone steers and got 200000 miles from them so I got these have almost 50000 on these and have to replace them because even a best case senario from a steer blowout your on the side of the road for 2 hours and paying double the money for a road call .... and it can get a lot worse from there

It’s worth a shot to talk to them. I had similar problem on a Yoko Drive. They gave me a brand new tire. Had a franchisee come in on a Sunday as I was passing through Louisville. Same with Detroit Diesel After I blew head gasket @ 540 out of warranty. They paid for head and gasket$22100 I paid labor$1700 . Stress loss of income and brand loyalty and UTube
gilknight Thanks this.
