Keeping a pet in the cage is a form of abuse.

Im not any particular kind, I know that our truck cats are real particular about getting up high for security and had a special spot in the bunk deep corner when the mountain works the truck really hard or during ice traveling. they go there and rest let us deal with it. When it's really good they will melt into the dash for all that sun. Makes us envious.

We rescued a cat from a shelter cage for two years as a problem to solve, it had mental issues from cage. It was six months hiding in our home until one day it took over everything and make it home. Then build a relationship with us. The mental issues went away as soon as I took time to allow it to hunt a realistic mouse on a 10 foot string with lights off down the hall once or twice a day so it can hunt and be a total cat and get predatory.

That mouse is still on the keyboard. The cat is gone. I don't think we will have another because that one was our best ever.

Cages are useful. but if you keep a pet in one too long it's going to do some damage.

Also medical insurance is not what it's cracked up to be. I pay about 2000 cash each year so far in co pays and they have paid out 30,000 since last Oct 1. We deferred another 34000 so far in work that could be done. Deductables on my end for certain things like hearing aides go to 2000 each in 2019.

I do not see a long term success when a plan provider takes in 154 dollars a month and pay out something like roughly 1000 a month, mostly drug testing and some big bills for light surgery.

So health insurance is not improving. It's actually worsening. Hospitals are a place to decide if you live or die, you wont catch me in one unless it's really a bad day. Not like it used to be.

It sounds like you gave that cat a good life. I have a cat and a dog myself, but my cat's independent enough that I can leave her at home and ask some family to make sure she gets some food, love and attention while I'm away (and she's blind, so all the noise and constant new smells and environment would just be a source of stress for her). The dog is a 15 week old chi pup with a little bit of pug in him but you wouldn't know it if not for his floppy ears. I already have a raised carseat basket for small dogs with a safety buckle in it so that he can ride safely next to me in my car without hurting himself or distracting me. I'd much prefer that to jamming him into a crate the whole time I'm on the road. Like you said, when they're forced to be in a cage that long it's basically abuse.

Not to mention he has the lungs of a banshee. I'd be at more risk of distraction from him blowing my eardrums shrieking about being locked up.

As for health insurance, honestly the entire health system in this country, among numerous other things, have been ####ed for a long time and every year it only gets worse. I drove for a local cab company for a while where I was also regularly assigned medicare/medicaid-funded transportation for healthcare patients, mainly elderly, and boy have I seen and heard some stories. I have less and less faith in American healthcare itself every year. But even if everything sucks, having a steady job with halfway decent health insurance is better than my current status of unemployed and relying on marketplace insurance, which has also dropped in quality due to the current administration trying so hard to gut the ACA and scaring off all the decent insurance companies. Right now I keep putting off even going in for a routine checkup because I get told at the clinic that I don't have any copay then get sent a surprise $200 bill two months later. #### sucks. Having to go broke just for basic healthcare, much less anything more dire or chronic, sucks.

Fortunately I've been relatively healthy throughout my life so far, but I still have some conditions that could stand to have further treatment now so I don't end up way worse off down the line.

With some people changing jobs 3-17 times a year the 90 day wait makes sense to me. I remember when lots of places had a 1 year wait to participate in a 401k. These days you're automatically enrolled.

many jobs all across the board, have a 90 day waiting period, or probationary period. some jobs start your benefits right away, one job i had applied to, was a 6 MONTH waiting period, needless to say, i walked out of that interview.

Many do it to eliminate drivers coming in with something they need medical for, getting it treated(which costs everyone in the plan eventually in the form of raised premiums), and then leaving.

At Poly it was a 120 day waiting period.

I have waited those periods in the past to get covered, then finally gone to a doctor and it seems like I would have the job end shortly after. But then the last doc which was about 3 years ago said I would be gone by the end of the year which I learned as much as I could, changed the food I was eating to whole foods washed as best I can and have lost weight and gained back movement that was being lost, so you can tell what I think about the USA medical scam. BTW it was way cheaper to go the good food route than all them pills they were sticking me on.

My company, Britton Transport, has all you are looking for though doubt weekly hometime would be possible. Probably every other week would be doable. Their benefits policy If I remember correctly is you get it after 60 days. They also pay 100% of the driver's health insurance premium. If you have family to add there would be a charge for that. I pay $125.07 a week for my entire family including health, dental, and vision insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield). They have APU's, inverters, and refrigerators in all trucks. They allow dogs for a $250 deposit (not cats). Overall a good company that treats me well and I am happy with them. Best wishes to you!

P.s.-Britton does hire new drivers but it is a small company (about 100 trucks) and they only have a couple of trainers so sometimes there is a wait if these trainers are not available.

If you find a company you want to work for but the 90-day wait for benefits is a problem, you can always buy a temporary (or short-term) health insurance policy. Typically you can purchase them for considerably less than a standard policy for periods ranging from 30 to 180 days. Benefits are limited as in no pre-existing conditions are covered and no coverage for prescription drugs other than applying to the deductible, but you will have coverage for you and your family in the event of an illness or accident.
