As I passed through Arkansas tonight I stopped at the Petro in Northern Little Rock exit 161 on I-40 and could not help to notice a fellow driver in need. This gentleman looked as weathered and worn as a man in his position would. As I waited for my shower I had a cup of coffee and overheard the waitresses talking about this man as he walked by the window stiff and frail. After asking them I was informed he was a owner operator whoms company pulled his lease after seeing his handle "playboy" on his bunk well to cut the story short he has been there for almost a week and did not even have enough fuel to get to the fuel dock after he had ran his tanks dry trying to stay warm. That is how he found out he was fired..... comming in to fuel and card being denied. The one thing I admired was he in no way was begging for money or looking for a hand out of any kind, I approched him with all I had in my pocket and a phone number and as he wished me god's blessings he started to tear up. I know times are hard...trust me we are all in the same boat but he could really use help from anyone passing by, he has a dark blue Frieghtliner bobtailed and parked right up front...my heart bleeds for this man; maybe because I am a girl it effected me differently but we have all been in a spot in our lives that we needed an angle so get your wings out boys and help one another! Keep it safe, God Bless![]()

Great move there!

I commend you for helping him out as much as you could. I don't know if the laws are different for owner operaters because they're considered self employed or what, but I hope he goes and talks to a lawyer or a labour board.

There are times in life where God will tell you to do something. I.E. Giving your last dollar to someone else. But you will surely be blessed in the end.

We need a few more like dig1 around, you never know if that could happen to anyone, especially nowadays. I see a lot of hardship out here and its hitting all segments of society.Good job dig1!!! I run out of mi and I see the misery daily.

That was beautiful of you to do that. Our society today is selfish; I & me vs we & us. I stand up and applaud you for your concern and more importantly your actions in the matter.
A few weeks ago I was on TX59 just east of Laredo, TX. I was cruising on a Sunday evening looking for my consignee's place for delivery Monday morning. I had passed the dirt driveway by about 1/4 mile and was walking back to verify the address and name of the place when a Werner truck pulled over going the opposite direction. I crossed over and walked to the passenger side of the truck. It was a male/female team. I asked them if they had pulled over because they had seen me walking. They told me they had and offered a ride into town. I told them the reason they saw me walking. I also told them that they had renewed my faith in humanity by their gesture of assistance. I wish this was the norm and not the exception.
