    Short answer.
You did the right thing for you, by walking away from that company.

Scotty, do you think everybody on this forum other than you is an idiot?

You are compensated by YouTube for the advertisements that play during your videos.
As previously posted you get a commission when your subscribers visit Amazon thru your hyper links.
***I can seach and post videos of guys explaining how this all works. If you think that little of us dumb truck drivers.

It takes at the very minimum of a month for a video's monetization to reach the youtuber who produced it. It's not like you can make a video today and get paid next week like driving miles today and getting paid on it next week.

But setting that aside, as you know most of my videos are driving videos so therefore I am already on the clock while I'm doing the actual filming of the video.

Now if I'm walking around a museum and filming that and later on edit the material, (totally unrelated to trucking) I do not see how that hobby would be required to be logged on duty?

You guys are confusing yourselves by mixing and matching different regulations with different content on my channel ie trucking vs non trucking videos and my affiliate linking with Amazon.

You said it yourself, I get paid when people watch the show. Instead of trying to guilt trip me into not making the videos, how about going after the audience for enjoying the show?

I’m not trying to guilt you into anything. I don’t see your logic in wanting to get drivers fired because they’re bending a different rule than you. Hobbies have nothing to do with it, still waiting for you to show me a different regulation that says hobbies are off duty no matter what. What if my hobby is working for a farmer from the time I get off work on Friday until I go to work Monday? If you’re compensated than it’s on duty time, if you go by the book. So like I said, don’t act all holier than everyone else until you decide to do everything by the book too.

And there’s no regulations to mix and match. It’s pretty clear if you read it.

A month at a minimum. Huh. I have to wait 30+ days to be paid all the time @scottied67 Heck most brokers run on a 45 day pay.

Look man the original point is and was a vaild one. We all live in glass houses, none of us are perfect. So the blasting people for breaking the letter of the law when you admittedly live outside of it yourself is kinda a **** move.

I don’t know man, just own it. You mKe money off the videos, and you falsify your logs every time you edit, upload, read/post comments, etc...

Since it has been established the You Tube channel earns money. It is by definition a commercial venture. Since it is a commercial venture, all work performed for it must be logged as on duty not driving. Unless of course you are driving, then the driving line would apply.

You see when you get in an accident, and the lawyer finds your You Tube channel, your back side is gonna be burnt toast.

Check it out for yourself, i know you disagree with me. And that’s fine. We can agree to disagree.

Editing only takes 5-10 minutes, I suppose if it makes you feel better I could log ON Duty for that lol.

Now you are trying to include the uploading time as fatigue time? Would it shock you if I told you I hit the upload button and put the computer down and sleep while it is uploading? Sometimes I upload while I am driving, so that one is covered.

OK reading and posting comments from viewers of my videos has to be logged ON duty LOOOOOLLLLL
I will do that as soon as you log on duty for reading and posting comments on TTR.

Drivers who hold their phone while driving a commercial vehicle absolutely should be fired for breaking federal regulations. You guys want to talk about what happens post fatality crash, phone records will hang a driver in the worst way. But 100 times worse than that is the next person in charge will come out and say the answer must be to put driver facing cameras in all the commercial vehicles. That's why I do what I do to prevent that. You guys are focused on the messenger rather than the problem. I am trying to preserve what little freedoms truckers have left.

A few months ago in a different thread I mentioned advocating for driver training standards or something on those lines if you wanted to change the quality of driver coming into the industry and you flat out said that those videos wouldn’t get views so it wouldn’t be worth your time. So I have a hard time taking you seriously now that you’re supposedly making these videos for all drivers’ benefit like a crusade against phones will save the industry.

All I said in my initial post to you is that you better be 100% by the book if you’re putting people on blast for doing something wrong, and you’re not.

I might have to move back to the mainland just so I can be in one of your videos one day because if I ever see a guy driving with a camera strapped to his head I will be taking a picture with my phone and snap chatting it to my friends. Then when you call and try and get me fired my boss will laugh at you because he’s already seen it on snap.

By all means please utilize the links from my last post to confirm the truth, since you are so far gone into outter space.

Oh by the way, you had better be logged on duty while filming when the truck is parked. Be it at a shipper/reciever or a truck stop/ rest area. If that cammers strapped to your head is turned on, you better be logged on duty!

I’m gonna include a few definitions here. I feel they are applicable....
