Those look like to good of poles to be chopped up for firewood... But I'd gladly take a load like that if it were to "magically" appear in my drive!!!... That would probably last me nearly 3 winters.

The forklift operator (who was a woman at least 60 who had three times the ambition of the millennial male employees at their yard) said they’re usually used for fencing. She mentioned they sell out within a week, and part of that load was already bought.

I’m guessing two poles loaded side by side? You can have more then one piece on an over dimensional load as long as your not over weight.

It was 12 poles. I ended up taking the load after they split it up to fit half on another truck. Ended up being there for a total of 26 hours. I was not happy.

I just noticed this post. I cannot possibly manage to keep anything clean around here. As soon as I wash it I wind up on a logging road in the middle of the Rockies in the rain. I try to clean the truck every month, but the trailer gets washed when it rains. Already snowed here a few times, so clean season is over. It’s old and in need of some TLC anyway. If I stick with the flatbed thing I’ll buy a new trailer within two years.

Glad you learned a bunch from this load.

I’ll take a load from a known agent in a heartbeat over some poorly described ‘machinery - needs tarp’ or ‘lumber’ like your one.

It’s the devil you know thing.

Really dodged a bullet with the load. I tried to do what I thought was right to get the load delivered, but the RIGHT thing to do was to leave the yard as soon as I got that bad feeling in my gut. When the guy running the loader says, “this is my first time”, or after he drops the same bundle four times off the side of the trailer that should be the queue to walk away. I need the income pretty bad, but it wouldn’t have taken much for this trip to cost me much more than the load was worth.

Still not as bad as that #### wallboard load from hell earlier this year. That one caused my first grey hair.

    That is not true.
I permit divisible loads for width all the time. I can not permit a divisible over weight load.

For width,.. I load multiple pieces all the time. Steel plates, Crane booms, Machinery, Structures and various equipment.

I would have used some pipe stakes on a load like that. You can make your own out of some C-channel pieces. Not difficult to do.

It’s funny, I was actually thinking about pipe stakes a few days before this load. Had no time to get any for this load, and remember I was told this was lumber I was picking up 74 miles from home. The load was posted for a week before I took it. Should have gotten a hint from that.
