You’re welcome to buy their tools if it suits you.

I personally have never had a problem installing one without the tool, which is why I stated that it isn’t necessary.

    lester Thanks this.

How do you install seal without damaging it? You want to apply even pressure on it

Piece of PVC works well.. Block of wood, anything that will absorb some of the impact when you tap it in place. I also don’t beat the piss out of it. Just lightly tap it all the way around to set it evenly.

I pressed one in with my boot on the side of I-70 in Ohio two weeks ago without damaging it.

The Voyager is really easy to install. Also I just saw that SKF has a version of their Scotseal that they tell you to press in by hand.

I've done dozens of wheel seals and never used a seal installer. Just a light touch with a hammer or a block of wood

Can someone tell me sequence how to tighten bearing? I heard you tighten to 200 ft/lb while spinning hub, release 1/4 turn tighten to 100 ft/lb while spinning hub, etc

Never been a fan of the single piece wheel seals, but I don't see anything particularly worse about the Stemco Voyager than Con-Met or the others I've dealt with.
You put a little emery cloth to deburr the spindle. No big deal, and if it is, then yeah, there's something wrong.
I know of a couple instances where TA tried telling people that they needed a new axle on account of the spindles not being 100% perfect, and it was absolute (fecal matter produced by a horse). They don't want to warranty wheel seals probably because they're prone to doing (fecal matter) work. At least a good third of wheel seals I've had to replace were ones which had been recently replaced by either a TA or Petro shop. They just don't want to deal with their comebacks.

What type of hub do you have? Double jam nut, Pro-Torque, that single nut system Con-Met came out with a few years ago?
