I wonder why UPS even bothers with the union to this day. Not to sound like a donkey, but why don't they just pull a fedex Ground/amazon? Contract all you guys out.

The wife scored a couple of new accounts for my carrier because of this. Several out of state distributors for her company have been affected so she pointed them our way.Mike2633, sdaniel, Bob Dobalina and 1 other person Thank this.

Maybe they were both pulling 53’ trailers

According to sources large majority of votes counted have been yes. Large enough that even if the rest were no it would still pass.
No strike. This is unofficial tho but supposedly accurate.speedyk, Mike2633, Ups Va and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'll take my 401k over a pension any day..These pensions are running out of money left and right. You really want to put your future in the hands of a company that may or may not be around when you retire? Go talk to all these guys who are already retired and have had their pension benefits cut significantly. These pensions are entirely out of your control. No thanks.

Ups fund there own pension its secure.. This a billion dollar company it's not going nowhere....

That's what everyone thought about sears 25 years ago. Sears was bigger than Walmart.

Breaking news contract has been ratified.77% yes vote.
Mike2633, De Trucker and bzinger Thank this. -
You can still have a 401k too. As a matter of fact Teamsters offer a 401k as well. Great thing about the pension is it is 100% company funded. I don't have to contribute to it with my income.
You can look at it like the company's match to your retirement/401k.
And even with the cuts to plans like central states it still comes out to more than what most other companies put into your 401k with their match.Mike2633, Hardrunner22 and Ups Va Thank this. -
Because specialized, dedicated workers will ALWAYS outperform some outside carrier. And in the long run, they're cheaper.Mike2633 Thanks this.
