I fully agree with your comment. However I have to draw a bit of a disagreement with your last sentence. Because hair testing is NOT required by the FMCSA being sent home for the Mr Clean look should not follow you like that. Yes it is true that a lot of carriers report to DAC when a driver does NOT finish an orientation. This fact sometimes is not driven home hard enough. If you are asked why you left orientation I advise honesty. Most will hire you if you are able to comply with the rules they have set up. Because most carriers don't control (testing consortium) who gets tested having this happen should not be a problem. However beware, a driver can be sent to test (for cause) anytime a carrier or their authorized agents deem it necessary. This happened in an Atlanta company one day last week. Driver popped a positive.

I'm also sorry about your testing. However are you sure you might have added one to many zeros onto that MRI cost. I had a full head MRI done just about a year ago. My portion of the bill was a bit over 10% and I only paid $135 plus change copay. 3 grand sounds a bit high for blood work also. Regardless I do hope you get to feeling better soon.

Fully agree with your statements. I wasn’t trying to imply that the inability to produce a hair sample would ding a drivers DAC. Only that they would/could be refused employment by the company requesting said test.

Just note how many companies locate in Right to Work states. Right to work = Right to refuse employment

The DAC will just get dinged with a did not finish orientation. My point was most carriers are not going to get bent out of shape because of a refusal to hair test. <<this is what being Mr Clean really is. Oh and there is no question that a refusal to test is going to get you sent home!

Ha! There are some OG that don’t give a #### about getting dinged for not finishing orientation.

I watched one guy walk up to the desk, place all the materials on said desk. The proceeded to tell the guy that having a Qualcomm in a truck was complete BS. Then walk out.

    Best orientation ever ;)

It's all good. It's the Hosptial MRI machine that incurred the costs, spouse was a employee there. So the billing dept took that bill, ripped it in half and sailed it into the trash bin. It's not often I see 20,000 go bye bye. (Would you like taxes with that? lol)

Things are moving finally. We are going to get this done and I'll be stomping round the 18 wheeler soon enough. (Ya right.) Morale is good now that we have the right people pointed in the right direction for once. All that is just to wait.

Where I was last week and where i am now are two different things. Hammer on the floor.

I was told I got the very last slot of the OR for the year. If I had been 30 minutes late yesterday it would have been springtime of 2019 before they fixed the #### thing. (Actually FIXED IT not just slap a dressing on there.)

You might have to go into the military for anyone to want a drug test from you that badly.

Anyone else will just refuse to hire you.

This is one of the most frustrating things I know of to get across to some people. Unless the employer is in a clear violation of the law, you are going to lose these battles. Another area where drivers are going to lose these battles is in the area of regulatory compliance! Some drivers have little or no understanding just how much a carrier and by extension the drivers are regulated. Most privacy laws are trumped by this heavy regulatory environment. I know somebody is going to reply something about hair testing not being called for by the FMCSA. However some carriers use it. Hair testing most likely will be accepted by the FMCSA in a few years. Just like testing for THC, hopefully in a few years will be able to check for actual being on duty use much like Alcohol is today!

No one uses pubic hair for testing. It is so contaminated it'd be pointless.

You're right though. Walk into an employer that hair follicle tests and tell them to take it off your nutsack. They'll boot you right on out the door.
