If you don’t see it chances are it’s not enabled. Ask your dispatcher to see if you can call it in. With my company it’s not enabled BUT as long as I’m not dispatched or have a preplan waiting I can drive and then call my dispatcher to change it to PC.

This is my second week driving a truck on the road solo ever. I dont have that luxury to tell them what to do. Schneider is a revolving door of drivers. I am just here to get my bulk experience in. I got a load picking up tonight and will be driving tomorrow. So just gotta take what i can get

I get that. But Schneider has been trucking a long time. Long enough to have have a solid freight base, and long enough to know you don't strand drivers over a holiday period with no pay or ability to travel to safe haven.

stranding drivers is something I'd only expect from a Mickey Mouse fly by night outfit and Schneider is not one of these.

Stay in this business long enough you are going to have more of these long layovers. When I was active and was caught in these Holidays away from home I got into a hotel. Sometime I paid for it, sometimes I could sweet talk my fleet manager to pay for it.

I get measly layover pay of 65 a day, but its better than nothing. But its pretty obvious they dont give 2 cents about the drivers. Drivers are replaceable commodities. I got a sense of that on the first day with them.

I really dont care for the hotels to be honest. I rather them give me that money and i will stay in the truck. I dont mind living in the truck. I just dont like the fact i was just sitting not making that much money

Good for you that you went into bulk. Good choice. Far better than dry van or reefer.

Be patient. I don't know much about bulk, but for dry van this is when the doldrums begin. Christmas has already shipped and dry van will be slow until Spring.

Even in the oil field it's seasonal. This time of year many exploration companies run out of budget. After January new budgets kick in. You have to learn to run hard when it's busy and relax when it's slow.

You have to be Off-duty first in order to choose personal conveyance on my Qualcomm.

I'm a newbie solo driver as well. I'm currently way out of our western US regional market. They gave me a load going to Springfield so I could swap out this manual 588k mileage Pete before the 600k warranty is up. They gave me a 2019 Freight. My load delivers in two days, 3 hrs away. I've been here over 24 already. I've made 3 round trip PC runs for supplies, food, shower, etc as I swap stuff out and set up the new truck. Tomorrow they'll add my satellite tv and I'll be about done. But I'll still PC tonight and tomorrow for food and any last items I need.

Allowing that, and drivers not abusing it, is just one small way to treat drivers better and retain them longer.

Just hearing what you're going through is enough for me to know I'll NEVER work for Schneider if I can prevent it. Even if they changed the policy, I already know what they think of drivers.

If your carrier really cared they would get you a decent room and a rental car for the transition

It was Thanksgiving weekend. Freight can be scarce, even for the megas on a major holiday weekend.
