Really? Almost EVERY company has some kind of incentive because NOBODY can get enough warm bodies to fill their seats. And offering a CDL school has nothing to do with the price of tea in China, or if they're a good company.

But prattle on... everyone is entitled to their thoughts in an open forum.

That’s a good attitude. Myself, I like to hang upside down in the closet and read the forum follies.

there's a lotta companies that are good to start out with, either because they support you or pay better than certain bottomfeeders... but starter companies are often just that, starter companies. I started my career at eastern freightways. I stayed a year. then left! so do most people over there who last that long. it says a lot. I'm sure swift and schnuder have the same problems...

OP isn't recruiting, just stating an opinion that they are good to start at, not so good to stay with.

me personally, I had as much miles as I could handle on dry van, 400-500 a day and I got 53cpm because I "gasp" negotiated over the phone and got it in e-mail confirmation before agreeing to fly out there... but long-term the pay scale is quite gimmicky, based on nigh-unattainable fuel economy goals and other stuff... it's all hyper-complex how they calculate your pay. also, the hometime was lackluster but then again the government forces you to take a 34hr reset every 70 hours and guess what that does to your actual weekend time if every week you're being forced to take 3/4 of your weekend out in timbuktu?

stay away from their reefer division.

not enuff miles, insane amounts of detention and it's too much dang paperwork to even start to get detention!

ps if you start at roehl from scratch you'll need to agree to stay a year, or pay satan thousands of dollars. so there's that...

I work for Roehl and have very little complaints. I'm in the Dryvan division. The miles are definitely here if you keep the door shut and get the loads to where they need to be in time. Since being out on my own I have never driven anything less than 2900 miles. Are they perfect? No, but overall I would say for being a smaller company and having tons of multi million milers I think that says something. As far as Chicago is concerned get used to it. Gary is the largest terminal in the company. For flatbedders there is ton of freight out West. For Dryvan not so much. As far as the reefer division is concerned it has improved significantly and most of the reefer guys I talk to are happy. I cant speak personally on flatbed but my friends have gotten 3,000 plus mile coast to coast loads. So miles are here if you dont complain and do but I think that's any company.

Run as far away from the Reefer Division as you can. I recently left Roehl and WOULD never go back to them. They may not be hiring flatbed in that area at the moment.

I have to ask. Why won’t you haul beer?

Interesting, if you want to get technical there will be many things that are a potential detriment to society or can be used to make something far worse. I think you'll drive yourself nuts if you think about it. Cough syrup and sudaphed can be used as ingredients in meth. Battery acid and anhydrous too.
