They took over Swift because swift was way deep in debt. Either way it’s not my issue anymore ‍♂️

There are so many truck driving jobs available right now due to the driver shortage. In fact, jobs that for many years had a waiting list of potential drivers (with years of experience) are now open to virtually anyone, including new drivers.
Companies such as Knight, as well as all the other, low level bottom feeder carriers, are easily replaced by much better places of employment for any driver.
    Move on.

    Veryblessed Thanks this.

I did move on. I’m aware of what’s going on in the industry. I’m not asking for a putty party. I’m simply advising any green driver of my experience at knight I’m case they were considering the company like I once did. I came hear and read forums and tried to make my best decision. So, hopefully someone can learn from this.

    Good man for your message.
I wish other drivers with your same, negative experiences would do the same.

Pay is on a sliding scale and middle of the road for most companies.

I still don't understand how drivers think sliding scale is bad. Knight is a medium length of haul carrier. Shorter runs usually pay more, thats why they specialize in it. And thats why they pay you more for shorter runs. Would you rather they just paid you the same for the short runs as they do the long ones?

There is very little camaraderie among the drivers. They have a tendency to only be out for themselves. I’ve seen more kindness, helpfulness, and just plain friendliness from random drivers from other companies out on the road than o have from knight drivers. You could be broken down and asking for help and they’ll just walk by you.

I would assist any driver outside of driving their truck. Just how many knight drivers do you know? There is literally thousands of them. But you also have to remember that a piece rate driver is not a fellow employee, they are your competitors for miles & money. I didn't know anyone except my dispatcher, terminal mng & service writer. I usually steered clear of fellow drivers because they would either talk your ear off or complain about most everything

Just get a couple of years in & then look for something local or specialized. Regular OTR just doesn't pay for the time involved anymore.

Actually it is the less miles you run per load the more you are paid. Many companies you get the same cpm on all loads If you look at what Knight pays for a medium length run it is above industry avg & that is their bread & butter. Not coast to coast.
My girlfriend worked for Knight for 8yrs & definitely made more on sliding scale, non forced dispatch, and another secret in knights pay. You could actually negotiate a bonus on short runs & drayage work. If they needed a load delivered she would say X-pay me $100 & they would send her a PO number.
Want me to chain up to drive from Reno to Sacramento for on time delivery ? $200 boom PO sent. It is not advertised but you learn the critical deliveries & they will pay those willing to work. I have never had any OTR company do that. You either did the run or they sat you.

Try explaining to a couple of mexican dudes from Laredo how to run the "bunk beater" on their truck . Did that last week & I should get a medal for my efforts.

I am once again shocked and appalled by these revelations.

The company actually teaches them how to pass the test?

    Appalling.

I'd think these companies would let everyone learn at their own pace, after all we are all owed something by the the trucking industry.
