Maybe that’s a little harsh ^
asphaltcowboy4x4, kemosabi49 and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
But I elected to buy my own truck. Trucking has been very good to and for me. I’ll probably die in a truck. Hopefully it’s parked when I do
I definitely bear no ill will toward anyone that wants out. It’s not a lifestyle that everyone can deal with for decades.Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -

Mine works in professional theater. Travels a lot. Works insane hours. And thinks that a truck driver is the best thing since the invention of the wheel.
My schedule tries to work around hers. It’s hit and miss sometimes. But my clothes are still in the closet, my remote for the underground parking still works, and so do the keys to the door.Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -

And I have someone who enjoys traveling with me. And has always insisted on paying her own way. Which is really kind of cheating for both of us. Her job pays for some of her cost. -
For my degree there wasn't an online component, so I quit trucking in order to go to class everyday. You might find that your upper-level classes--that is, those classes that are specific to your degree--may not be available in an online format, so you'll have to show up for class, lest you risk failing the class due to excessive absences.
If you have to quit otr to go to class but you want to keep working and keep up your driving experience, you might consider being a casual driver and working weekends only. That might take a little bit of cold-calling on your end since those positions aren't usually advertised, but they are available with some companies.
Regardless how you do it, I think you should get a degree. You can always fall back on your cdl if you can't line up a job after graduation, but you'll forever be wondering about something better if you keep putting off your education.
