This is why it is hard to find pride in doing this any more. Too many people like that are allowed to be on equal terms. What can a man who spent all his life treating this profession as his craft feel seeing something like that. A guy taken off the street is allowed to do what a maestro has done for years. I think it is only possible in trucking.
Shoot me now please........

I agree and disagree.
I used to help everybody and get upset with those who would not help others. I would be irate at you for watching & not helping.
What changed/ruined me....what made me the grumpy arrogant jagoff I am today...
Working for a small carrier we had 19 trucks. They laxed their hiring requirements. We began hiring people with little to no experience. That was ok at 1st, i used to be a “trainer” when i worked for US Xpress. I would always jump in & help, then i realized...it was laziness. They wanted me to do their job for them.
Had a guy one night stand on the dock & stare at the fork lift...he was trying to out wait my patients, so i’d unload & reload him to get him out of the door & out of my way. I asked what was wrong, he said “i no know to use this, nobody show me”. I quickly replied oh really, ‘cuz you had no problem running it last week when i saw you. You handled it pretty well.
He cussed at me before getting on the fork lift and doing his job.
Guys would cry so bad about some deliveries. They were admittedly crap stops...low guys on the tottem pole had to make them stops. These guys cried so bad the bosses put them in general rotation. Lazy twerps screwed us all over.
The people i’m speaking of here were both Americans & foreigners. I don’t think race or nationality makes a darn. The problem i watched was poor up bringing’s & bad cultures. Some people no matter where they’re from expect life handed to them. They know Playing STUPID will get them what they want. It’s different kind of lazy.
In the video from the op, a driver who truly wanted to learn would have paid more attention & asked more questions...I can guarantee more drivers & yard dogs will have to “show” this driver how to drop & hook trailers. It’s a shame it really is.Midwest Trucker, Tb0n3, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this. -
Back in the day, the masters took pride in schooling the apprentices. Think about it.wore out, Just passing by and Ryan423 Thank this.

I wasn't able to play the video. Anyone want to do.a play by play?

Obviously, they don't think apprenticeship is needed here. Maybe there are trainers and students but more often than not those are really apprentices schooling another a little greener apprentices.
