I just recently had my contract terminated with Landstar cause I got placed out of service twice within a year. (both trailer equipment) I'm looking for another company similar to Landstar that I could work for? Any suggestions? I'm also considering my own authority

Why did you fail to keep up your equipment?

You could try Mercer or JB Hunt. Both of them have a load board. I got turned down by landstar over a year ago so I went and got my own authority. It was a rocky road starting out but it's much better now...

Trailer equipment. One was a flat tire that I didnt even notice while driving. It looked fine before I started driving. Second was a abs light that literally came on while driving and an officer pulled me over and placed me out of service, cause it never went out.

I've thought about getting my own authority. I heard it was a rough start for most but after while it evens out.

Its rough because nobody don't wanna give you freight with your authority being new. Landstar will lol... they will give you all the freight you want.... so they fired you for those 2 simple things... I wouldn't work for those clowns anyway..

Its just too much red tape in this industry. Anything happens its all on the driver. I've had success with landstar, but even I've had issues with them. I've thought about getting my own authority for awhile so I guess now is the time.

Exactly, Anything can happen on the road. I've learned that the hard way when I got pulled over in Ohio, I got put out of service for a flat tire on a trailer that I didn't feel it would be flat while I was driving. Come to find out that I had picked up a nail in the tire. They patched it and I was sent on my way. All I can say is things happen for a reason you can do the most thorough pre-trip in your life and once you get on the road none of that will matter. A brake light may not work, you may end up hitting something hard such as a pot hole, and it mess up your alignment. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THIS INDUSTRY. I'm not saying that I'm not a safe driver but I really believe CSA is for the birds.

You cannot tell a tire looks fine. Either use a gauge or a tire thumper. And since when does an abs light being on put you out of service?
