You don't even have to worry about the lane alert with the new Cascadias

In the cab with Daimler’s level 2 semi-truck

Serves you right for doing something else other than driving.

Then perhaps you’d like to explain to us how we all survived as an industry prior to the existence of all this horse ####.

I don't have to explain anything. Perhaps you'd like to explain to us why we should put a moratorium on safety enhancement to hold at 1990 levels or wherever you think we reached a "sweet spot".

The steel workers also "survived" building skyscrapers without any safety harnesses. Should we also go back to that era?

At some point you need to realize you’re coddling people too much. Excessive stupidproofing of a society is the beginning of that society’s downfall.

Why not? They were certainly a far tougher breed.

Can you point me to historical documents that show where this has happened? We've been "stupid-proofing" ever since the dawn of the modern era but I'm not seeing any indications we're about meet an impending doom as a result of this.

I agree in principal about allowing humans to get smart or die, but it's just not going to happen. The cat is out of the bag and there's no regressing from here on. Either accept it for what it is, or don't, but it's going to going on, regardless.

I don’t need “historical documents” to see what is as plain as the nose on my face. Just take a look around in just about any Walmart and take notice of the predominant class of people.

Then, compare that bunch of degenerates to the generation that saved the world 75 years ago.

The trucking industry is no different, with the sweat pants and shower shoe wearing pigs that under no circumstances could ever be troubled to waddle an extra 10 feet to the truckstop door, and if the existence alone of that class of people isn’t detestable enough, the rest of us who actually are capable drivers who get the job done with no interminable whining now have to be lumped in with the lowlifes of the industry through such devices as the annoying piece of crap we’re discussing here.

Maybe someone can explain to me why since the implantation of all these safety items and policies accidents have continued to rise at an alarmingly faster rate.

No you don't. You said yourself you have people lined up to drive you, because you're too doped up to drive your car.

The Amish have a similar attitude about modern equipment...:D Sorry, I had to say it...I couldn't resist. I hate the front collision midigation crap as much as almost everyone else, but I use my cruise any time I am out of metropolitan areas with a speed limit above 65. It keeps me from being that driver that speeds up, slows down, speeds up every time I am being passed.
