You were under a monster freight advisory. No time for parking unless it’s to get the truck serviced/repaired.

Most of them [at the more problematic locations] don’t do enough to be proactive in dealing with “poachers”

Starting at 6 pm, somebody needs to assess the booking status and how many have checked in, then go out and physical check the reserved area that only paid trucks are in spots and this needs to be repeated hourly.

The key is to get the deadbeats out early (by 6 pm) and keep them out, put the signs back in place, and monitor the situation regularly, rather than wait until late when nobody is going to respond to a vacate request. If it’s 9 pm, and 3 have yet to check in, then you better go out and see 3 open spaces. If not, then someone needs to put on their enforcement hat and start enforcing.

If they are going to provide a premium paid service, they need to do their part and make it work as smoothly as possible, as often as possible.

Another problem that makes their job harder is some [who are paid] forget to put the parking pass in their window and this creates unnecessary problems for all parties. Why is this so difficult for many to do?

No. You pay as soon as you book it. You don't arrive you don't get refund.

They advertise that the spots are guaranteed. If they can't move the scumbags who take spots that someone else paid for, they should close one of the fuel pumps and allow to park right there. I rely on those parking spots and also had situations when scumbags did park without paying but they were convinced to go.

I tried to park in a reserved spot then go in and pay for it but a driver blocked me and claimed the individual spots are assigned.

Some Petros and PFJs tried that for a while at some locations but it didn’t work well and I think they’ve all abandoned that concept of assigned slots because many drivers have hard enough time backing into a spot, never mind a particular spot, and these may or may not be well-marked.

It's all a scam to get your money, they really don't care if you get a parking spot. LOL

Kind of like when the airlines overbook seating then offer rebates and deals to catch the next flight when this one is full.

Notice how straight these trucks on Elogs are parked? Could it be better training from Megas? Possibly. Is it due to less fatigue on Elogs? Definitely.

It works most of the time. I like the concept. I was called once by a manager to confirm that I was coming that night...which made me wonder why as I booked and paid for it already. I said yes, even though later I did not arrive there as I found a lucky spot at a smaller truck stop which was much closer to the receiver. I did not bother to call as their fee is not refundable, and I would not mind reselling the spot to someone else but I would mind someone parking there for free once I paid for it, without asking me for permission.
