Well where's the pics of the train set?? I know there are more than a few of us that would like to see that!! Not sure why they have day cabs out there. We do run out of Dearborn into OH. And W.Va. and we run out of Marysville also. And they are constantly picking up work so I'm sure there are other yards.Last edited: Feb 7, 2019

I've actually seen some pretty decent graffiti on these rail cars!! Unfortunately if your car is next to the art it gets a lot of overspray.

Just remember it will only slide so so far. Then tighten it up and it will stay right there once ot found the right angle. This is why chain checks are required.Feedman, cke, Slowpoke KW and 13 others Thank this. -
Ok John @stwik Coil class. That coil on the melton truck its more than likely not very big. Black Iron coils are big but not very heavy. Not processed yet. Thats why its no tarp. Finished coils are tarped. Or its jew iron, or Cleveland brokers. So they buy them cheap when rejected at a plant pennies on the pound. They buy under a processor name. This is a whole sub industry. But to reprocess they would have to transport back and reship. Which some are, most they just shop for a customer that will except it. It could be premium again at this point. (Rusty dodge bedsides).
So short short here comes Melton. Inexperienced driver and underrated equipment. So they make there rule book thicker than the green book because why? Well they are limiting there liability. They had a guy with limited experience put triple the secerment a steel hauler will on sub standard equipment. CYA, do you know what that stands for?
1. that chain bulkhead is still limited to WLL of 5/16" chain, If it moves. Good for pipe. Splinters for coil. It will stroll thru it on its way to the bunk.
2.Straps over top do not add to WLL, tow truck driver will have to cut straps off trailer and roll up laughing.
3. 5/16" chain don't belong on a coil period. My rule not book
4. That trailer isnt rated for anything over a 45k in center.
5. You want one chain pulling forward and at least two rear, the rest as straight down a possible. not all spread out like that. To far apart. The idea is stop it from movement. You cant stop it after it had started. You fighting laws of physics. If it wants to go it will. Again chain checks
stwik,
1. I am just as bigga A-hole as people assume and I am more then likely exactly what you expect.
2. this message board is fun and comical, but I will not steer any hand knowingly in the wrong direction. My family and friends share the road with us, chain till you feel good. But use the proper equipment.
