Funny you say that. I was involved (kind of) in a lane that at its peak generated 85 loads inbound and 65 loads outbound a week. I never dedicated myself to this lane, only used it to fill in when I was slow. But you should have seen all the guys that went and bought hoppers and wouldn't stf up telling anyone that would listen "I've been in business for 20 years and i've finally found a home" Then the guys they were telling went and bought hoppers. Within 2 years it all fell apart.

Well if I knew how to cut and paste your quote into this reply, I would do so. But you said “everyone at ACT treats me with respect and is honest”. My guess is that you guys are the kind of drivers that earn and deserve that respect, so my hat is off to you.

Over three decades ago, about to finish my degree in agriculture and business , and a large poultry company that hires lots of grads from my university comes to campus and wants to hire me. I was raised around trucks, had worked as a driver for a local trucking company on summer and semester breaks, and I wanted to see the USA, not be a shift supervisor in a chicken plant or feed mill or whatever. So they said fine, we have a private fleet, you can work over there driving a truck for a couple of years, learn our customer base, and then we’ll bring you back into the production or finance side, maybe send you to get an MBA. So, for two years I saw it all, from Grapevine and Donner, to the GW bridge, Hunts Point, and even the QEW to our Canadian customers.

One thing I learned then, and I expect it of my employees now: dress and act professionally, keep your hair neat and trimmed, be there on time, take care of the equipment, don’t use foul language, and you’ll be treated with respect by most people.

They sound like a good company. I'm curious about the pay scale. Do you know if O/O's are getting paid percentage or is it per mile? And how much? Their website doesn't say.
