The driver also wore a very nice uniform, and was neat tidy and professional. Those are all relics of the past.

I would venture a guess that 93% of that are Megas, and 1% is owner operators and small fleets.

The other 6% that are manual ltransmissions are probably owner-operators and small fleets.

    PoleCrusher and 77fib77 Thank this.

I was thinking 100 trucks all auto replace a few not a big deal. As an OO spend 25k on an auto trans pretty horrible.

380k, I am on the 2nd AMT...and it's acting up. It probably won't make another 100k. I would give my left nut for a manual at this point. And our company is having issues with brand new trucks with the same transmission. Last truck I owned had over 800k on it...WITH the original clutch...show me any AMT with a track record like that.

Is it a Freightliner? What type of freight do you haul?

Mack mDrive(and our few remaining Volvos with iDrives are irritable as well) and we haul glass 1/2 the time and a empty trailer the other half. (Almost never backhaul anything)

The gap between 9th and 10th is huge. And while a ten speed will go down the road just fine multiple times a day you will wish you had a 13 so you could split that top gear.

Thanks. I really wonder what liquid hauling does to an automatic.

I've heard it makes it really challenging. If it's like my truck, it would provoke a barrage of offensive language every time you attempt to take off. A little too little throttle and it short shifts and won't pull, a little too much throttle and it launches and feels like it is trying to pull the one front tire off the ground
