If it was me I'll just pay it and be done with it. I can always get more money and it's best just to move on, there are just too many dispatchers needing a handholding on late loads to waste time sitting in a courthouse. =)

What am I gonna do? Sue Mr Boo boo who left the rig near the enforcement scales? Not just yet. I need to see the outcome via either the estate probate agent or the company so they can pay me my losses quietly against his pay.

That's too much of a fantasy. Just pay up and live your life. It's over a bad dream you can always get more money. Just next time never fly out to a tractor trailer you personally do not know anything about.

    That's a hefty fine.

I only got nailed $300 for being 1500 over on bridge. Load was legal for everywhere but Oregon.

I made the office pay it as I called them 4 times to confirm. Before leaving shipper.

Doesn't sound like you have that luxury.

$933 vs. the cost of a hiring lawyer from the area to fight the case for you and get the fine reduced or thrown out and not have it on your record. I would say do the math.

The squash meter for the tractor didn't tell me nothing my drives we're only around 30,000 not 34 and remember I was only overweight by 1800 lb overall 6000 lb on the trailer tandems which has no squash meter. not trying to wine to much I just always weigh my loads this was a weird load I feel like I got a turn in the barrel on this one for sure. Been driving for 3 years now and getting my CDL was the stupidest thing I ever did. Between all the low life trucking companies that constantly screw you out of wages, and the over-regulated industry, sleep apnea testing, yearly DOT physicals cuz of mildy high blood pressure, with the electronic logging devices literally a GPS shoved up your butt. Who needs it what a lowlife industry at least that has been my experience those of you with better experiences good for you. Think I'm going to focus on a higher-paying job like a shift manager at McDonald's or picking fruit with Mexicans in California.

Thank you for your advice. I just got a hold of someone at Klamath falls courthouse, there talking to the judge for me on my behalf if they don't dismiss it, I'm sure they'll lower it a little bit so I can afford to pay it. It wasn't just being overweight it was how this load was pawned off on me, the fact that I made no money for that trip the owner operator I was working for was in the middle of bankruptcy, "if you ever hear come work for me I'm an owner operator literally run like hell". There are three things to remember in life never trust a gold Miner, a fishing boat captain or a owner operator in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings.. also always weigh , loads when in doubt which I have always done except this one time where I couldn't find a scale anywhere around.
I guess the moral of the story is don't let dispatchers push you around and pawn ####loads on you even if it means finding another job that's a better alternative. Also watch out for owner-operators and companies that want you to abuse personal conveyance, eventually your books will get audited and you'll be in a world of crap.
